New Mexico State vs. Georgia: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time & More

Alex KayNov 1, 2011

The Georgia Bulldogs are ready to take a bite out of the New Mexico State Aggies.

After losing their first two games this season, the Dawgs have gotten angry and punished six straight opponents.

New Mexico will make it seven straight as Georgia dominates them to prepare for their tough matchup against ranked Auburn next week.

Key Storyline: Georgia’s Ascent Back Up BCS Rankings

The Bulldogs started this season ranked No. 19 and then promptly lost their first two games, albeit against currently undefeated Boise State and one-loss South Carolina, but they fell out of the rankings.

After ripping off six-straight wins, they have clawed their way back to No. 18 and are poised to continue their rise.

They need to get past this New Mexico State team to face ranked Auburn next week and Georgia Tech on Nov. 26. If they win those games Georgia could be a dark horse to appear in a BCS bowl.

Who Might Not Play for New Mexico State (via CollegeInjuryReport.com)

QB Travaughn Colwell—QST (Ankle)—The true freshman backup was injured after coming in for a hurt Matt Christian, the Aggies starter. He may not be available to backup Christian if he goes down again.

WR Malcolm Mitchell—QST (Hamstring)—Mitchell hurt his left hamstring against Tennessee and has not played since. He is a true freshman who was leading the Bulldogs in catches, yards and TDs.

OT Austin Long—DBT (Ankle)—Long suffered an ankle injury against Vanderbilt and did not play against Florida. He is doubtful to return this week.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

Georgia is climbing back up the BCS rankings and needs a huge win at home over this 3-5 NMSU Aggies team to continue their ascent.

Nothing less than a total domination will give them credibility in the eyes of the BCS computers and human voters.

I expect the Dawgs to run up the score if possible and just assert their dominance over this inferior opponent as they gear up for a real matchup against Auburn next week.

What They're Saying

DB Jordan Love was quite talkative when speaking to WCTV.tv about their upcoming game and return to Athens.

"It will definitely be nice to get back home, and I'm sure our fans are going to be waiting and will blow the top off," Love said. "We're anxious to defend our home turf again. We've been doing all the little things right, and that's really helping us. We're also catching some breaks, and that's a tribute to all our hard work.

"We're handling this game like any other game. New Mexico State has talented players, and we have a tremendous amount of respect for them. In college football, anybody can beat anybody. We've got to come out ready to play on Saturday."

NMStateSports.com points out that this is the first SEC battle that the Aggies have had since 2007. They also haven’t particularly performed well against Georgia, going 0-3 since 1995.

Georgia Player to Watch: Jarvis Jones

This monster is probably going to stick around Georgia for at least one more year to continue dominating. He told reporters on Monday that he is not interested in joining the NFL quite yet and feels he still has plenty to learn in Athens.

He is going to be a high-round pick if he decides to make the jump but it seems that the Bulldogs will have their beastly OLB around a bit longer.

New Mexico State Player to Watch: Taveon Rogers

Rogers is having a nice little season for himself, with 32 catches for 669 yards and eight scores so far.

The 6’, 190 lb senior from Lancaster, CA is obviously the primary target no matter who is throwing the rock for the Aggies.
