BCS Rankings: Why Clemson Doesn't Deserve Spot in BCS After Dreadful Loss

The Clemson Tigers may have experienced the most disappointing loss of the 2011 college football season.

Not only was it disappointing on a program level, but I have to believe that it was extremely disappointing for impartial college football fans all over the nation.

Sure, fans of teams that are firmly in the BCS hunt or ACC conversation love the fact that Clemson was exposed by Georgia Tech 31-17, but there is no denying that this team was a great story in the college football world.

Simply put, they blew their chance to be great.

They still have a huge shot at winning the ACC and at least making something of their season, but this was a team that many felt was making a push for the National Championship.

Well folks, national champions don't get blown out 31-17 by an unranked team.

Georgia Tech has had their moments of BCS relevancy, but two big losses in a row to Virginia and Miami essentially ruined their season.

Nobody saw this coming, and that's what makes it so disappointing.

We all thought Clemson was the real deal.

With three huge wins in a row over ranked Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech, they all but proved to us that they deserved to be in the conversation.

With only four games left in the season, all they had to do was win-out and they would have at least been in the conversation for the BCS championship.

With No. 1 and No. 2 LSU and Alabama playing next week, one of them is going to get a loss. No. 3 Oklahoma State has upcoming games against Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma to end out the year, which are all going to be tough wins.

Clemson had themselves in perfect position, and they blew it.

It's disappointing and dreadful, and for all I care the Tigers don't deserve a BCS bowl after this loss.
