BCS Rankings 2011: Predicting the New Top 10 for Week 10

Josh SchochOct 30, 2011

Week 10 of the college football season is upon us, and this is the time that the BCS standings really start to matter.  With Top 10 teams like the Clemson Tigers and Kansas State Wildcats losing, we are in for a brand new Top 10.

No. 10 Clemson Tigers

Coming into Week 9 ranked No. 5, the Clemson Tigers lost to the unranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

However, the Top 10 is weak, and with Kansas State and Michigan State also losing, and South Carolina and Virginia Tech getting scares, this team will remain at No. 10.

No. 9 Nebraska Cornhuskers

Coming in ranked No. 14, the Cornhuskers put a 24-3 smack down on the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans.

It is because they did so well against a highly-ranked team that they will jump five spots to No. 9 in the nation.

No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks

Ranked No. 10 coming into Week 9, the Razorbacks will benefit directly from the Kansas State Wildcats and aforementioned Clemson Tigers' upset.  A

After a 31-28 comeback win at Vanderbilt, the Razorbacks are lucky to move up at all, but a weak back of the Top 10 allows them to do so.

No. 7 Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks will not be moving up at all, despite beating Washington State 43-28.  They were passed by Oklahoma, and despite Clemson losing, they remain at No. 7.

No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners

Due to a 58-17 thrashing of No. 8 Kansas State, the Oklahoma Sooners move up three spots to No. 6.  They benefit from Clemson and Kansas State losing, and their impressive win pushes them ahead of Oregon.

No. 5 Stanford Cardinals

After a triple-overtime thriller against the unranked USC Trojans, I didn't really want to move the Cardinals up the rankings, but no one else played well enough to pass them.

Therefore, the Cardinals will take advantage of Clemson losing and will become the No. 5 team in the country.

No. 4 Boise State Broncos

The Broncos didn't play this week, and no one played well enough to knock them down.  No. 5 Clemson lost, so Boise State remains No. 4.

No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys

The highest ranked team to play this week, the Cowboys beat Baylor (one of the best offensive teams in the country) 59-24.

They looked good once again, and they are going to keep their No. 3 ranking.  Now they just need to win next week and they will become No. 2.

No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide didn't play this week, so they will remain No. 2 in the nation. They are getting ready for their game against the No. 1 LSU Tigers.

No. 1 LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers have been dominant this whole season, and they will keep their No. 1 ranking.

They did not play this week, but they are gearing up for a November 5 matchup against the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Getcha popcorn ready.
