Winners and Losers from College Football's Week 9
Every week, there are winners and losers in college football. Sometimes, it's a team winning a huge game on the road or at home. Sometimes, it's a group of fans willing their team to an upset victory. And sometimes, it's a great call from a coach.
Those are the winners. Or as you'll be hearing from a lot of people that go as Charlie Sheen for Halloween, these are "Winners, duh, Winning."
Yes, these teams, fans and coaches are fueled with Tiger Blood and Adonis DNA.
But, there are teams, fans and coaches that are trolls and are losers.
Give a click through to see who is winning and who is losing from this week.
Winning: Oklahoma State
1 of 10Oklahoma State opened up a can of, well, you know what, today on the poor Baylor Bears.
Not only did they run up 56 points on the Bears, but quarterback Brandon Weedon went 24-for-36 today, throwing for 274 and three touchdowns. Justin Blackmon rebounded after leaving last week's game against Missouri with an injury, with a 13-reception, 172-yard and two-touchdown day.
But, the real winner of today was Oklahoma State's running back Joseph Randle, rushing for 152 yards and four touchdowns.
Losing: Arkansas Marquel Wade
2 of 10Wade launched himself into Vanderbilt's Jonathan Krause, while Krause was trying to field a punt after he called for a "fair catch."
Marquel was ejected from the game, then proceeded to taunt the Vanderbilt fans, while being escorted from the field by his coach.
Winning: Rutgers Fans Sticking out the Game
3 of 10The real winning is Eric LeGrand leading this Rutgers team out onto the field for today's game. But, for the fans of Rutgers to be out there during this horrible weather speaks volumes for the team.
Plus the fans have been treated to a great game between their team and West Virginia.
Losing: Texas A&M
4 of 10What the hell Aggies? Not only were you a 10-point favorite today, but against a 3-4 Missouri team, who was coming off a blowout defeat to Oklahoma State, you lose in overtime.
Your team should have been able to roll all over a bad Missouri defense, with Ryan Tannehill having upwards to a five touchdown day.
Instead, the defense can't hold the Missouri offense, and now, your Aggies now have no chance at winning the Big 12.
Winning: Joe Paterno
5 of 10Hey, so what if Joe Pa sits in the booth to "coach" this Penn State team. Who cares if he's a figurehead for this Nittany Lions program now. Today, Paterno became the all-time leader in wins, by earning his 409th victory in thrilling fashion.
That win surpassed Gramblings' former head coach Eddie Robinson's 408 total victories.
Who know's when Joe Pa will stop coaching football or what that final number will be. But until he does, Paterno will always be, "Winning."
Losing: Kansas State and BCS Chances
6 of 10Well, so much for Kansas State being treated as a legit threat for the BCS Championship this year.
KSU was only down by six at halftime of their game today against Oklahoma. But, Oklahoma came out in the second half and just rolled over Kansas State, their coach Bill Snyder and everyone who showed up today at Bill Snyder stadium in Manhattan.
Even with the bad weather on the East Coast, the Big Apple in Manhattan, New York, was the place to be at today, instead of the Little Apple in Manhattan, Kansas.
Winning: Oklahoma QB Landry Jones
7 of 10For those people who thought that Landry Jones just couldn't lead this Oklahoma team to a national title, just took a step back from that argument.
As today, Landry silenced his critics by throwing for only 505 yards and five touchdowns.
Those 505 yards put him past OU's leader in passing yards for a game—a title he shared with Sam Bradford, who had 468 in one game.
Losing: Michigan State's BCS Chances
8 of 10Really, the true loser from this game is Michigan State's QB, Kirk Cousins. But, coming into this game, after two huge victories at home, Michigan State just fell flat on the road in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Cousins only threw for 86 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception.
The running defense did nothing to help out the offense, as they did nothing to stop the Nebraska offense led by Rex Burkhead.
Winning: Mark Richt Georgia Head Coach
9 of 10Can we please take Mark Richt off the hot seat at Georgia? His Bulldogs went into the World's Largest Cocktail Party today against Florida and beat them 24-20. It was a signature win; it should vault the Bulldogs well into the BCS Standings, and it keeps the pressure on South Carolina for the SEC East Division.
Richt has this Bulldogs team ready for a SEC Championship game in the Georgia Dome against either LSU or Alabama.
Winning: Division II Cal U of PA
10 of 10Hey, it's my list so I'm going to put on the school I graduated from here as winners. They won a huge game today over their rivals, Indiana (PA), at IUP 28-10.
That win moves the Vulcans to an impressive 7-2 on the season and keeps them in the hunt for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
And for those of you who love the BCS, the win keeps the Vulcans hopes alive for a playoff berth in the D-II National Title playoffs.
Cal who, Cal U.
Keep on coming back for more winners and losers, as we'll keep updating throughout the night.
