BCS Rankings Week 10: Boise State Bye Week Will Knock Broncos Down

Michael DixonOct 29, 2011

Boise State is likely going to be undefeated this season. They don't have a particularly daunting game left on the schedule, so, if they show up and play even average games for the rest of the season, they will be undefeated.

Frankly, when a team wins, it's really hard to drop them in the polls.

But this week will not be a win or loss for Boise State. They are on a bye week. That's not a good thing.

They are currently ahead of Clemson, Stanford and Kansas State in the polls. All three are BCS schools and, like the Broncos, are undefeated. By the end of the week, there is a very good chance that Boise State will be looking up at all three.

Let's take a look at all three of those teams:

Clemson

The Tigers face a tough road opponent on Saturday night in Georgia Tech, but it's a game that sets up very well for the Tigers.

Georgia Tech is reeling and is just not a terribly good matchup for Clemson, even at home. Still, the win will be impressive for the pollsters, who make up two-thirds of the BCS.

With Boise State idle, this is a golden opportunity for the Tigers to vault them.

Stanford

Much like the Tigers, Stanford gets a tough, unranked opponent on the road tonight. I do expect a tough contest from the Trojans, but they match up well to the Cardinal.

Andrew Luck is the perfect quarterback to go on the road and win a tough game. He's enjoyed success against USC in the past, which will continue today.

Kansas State

The Wildcats are actually in a tough game right now against Oklahoma. I'll go on record here and say that I think the Sooners will win.

But if that doesn't happen, then it's a great win for Kansas State and a sign that this team may be for real. They have been awfully impressive this year and deserve to be recognized for it.

A win against Oklahoma would be a great step in getting that recognition.
