Justin Blackmon Injury: Oklahoma State Stud WR Set to Play Despite Concussion
Despite sitting out the second half of last week's game against Missouri with a concussion, Oklahoma State Cowboys' wide receiver Justin Blackmon is expected to play on Saturday against the Baylor Bears.
While there was some doubt with regards to whether the Heisman and Biletnikoff candidate would be able to go, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy seemed to be quite confident that Blackmon would be fine.
""I expect him to be fine,” Gundy said Sunday night. “They haven’t done all those tests and things that they do — that takes place (Monday). But he (was) over here (Sunday) and walking around and he (looked) normal to me.”
"
Blackmon has since undergone those tests and seems to have sufficiently passed them. His presence will be vital for the No. 3 Cowboys moving forward, as ranked teams such as Kansas State, Texas Tech and Oklahoma are all on tap moving forward.
He should also be a major factor on Saturday in what could easily be a shootout against Baylor. The Cowboys aren't exactly a top-notch defensive team, so quarterback Robert Griffin III and Co. are likely to put up some points for the Bears.
Baylor's defense is bad in its own right, though, so Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden will probably be looking to Blackmon early and often. Provided the Cowboys can build a lead, though, it might be beneficial for Gundy to rest Blackmon a bit late in the game and save him for another day.
