BCS Projections Week 10: Houston Will Crack Top 15 After Case Keenum's Heroics
Case Keenum's historic nine-touchdown performance against Rice this week not only launched Keenum into the Heisman Trophy race, but it took Houston from Conference USA juggernaut to a team to watch on the national scene.
Even if they run the table, Houston has no shot at making it to the national championship, but as Boise has done over the years, Houston can certainly make some noise.
They are already a lock to jump into the Top 15 this week and, when it's all said and done, an unblemished Houston squad will be seen as one of the Top-10 teams in the nation.
They are much more than a team beating up on inferior opponents: They have the No. 1 offense in the nation; their 52.3 PPG are overly impressive; their 453.3 passing YPG are incomprehensible and Keenum's high-octane offense isn't just impressive for a team of their standing, it's impressive in general.
Keenum is blowing away his fellow Heisman hopefuls from a statistical standpoint. While contenders like Trent Richardson and Andrew Luck are vying for a BCS title, Keenum's ability to put Houston on the map is just as impressive.
His 32 touchdowns and 3,219 yards are borderline ridiculous. The fact that he has 29 more touchdowns than interceptions is impressive regardless of who he is going up against.
Houston will continue playing the teams on their schedule and beating them unmercifully. They can't control what happens after that, but with an undefeated record and the manner in which they are winning, the surging Cougars' journey won't end once they break into the Top 15 this week.
