BCS Standings: Cincinnati Bearcats and Teams Ready to Crack the Top 25

Tim KeeneyOct 28, 2011

Here's a look at three schools that have the chance to crack the BCS Top 25 with wins on Saturday.

Cincinnati Bearcats

The Bearcats have a tough test coming up at Pittsburgh, but if they win, they'll establish themselves as the clear leader in the Big East—whatever that's worth.

Cincy just cracked the AP Top 25 and you have to think a win here would propel them into the BCS Top 25.

With the exception of their three point win at South Florida—which was a very good win—and their loss at Tennessee, Cincinnati has pretty much been blowing every team out.

The strength of schedule isn't special, but they still belong in the Top 25 with a win Saturday.

USC Trojans

This is easily one of USC's biggest games of the year, the other being at Oregon.

If Stanford is going to slip up this season, this will be the game where they do. On the road against a very good team, just one week after a 44-point shellacking of a Top 25 team.

I could see the Cardinal come into this one in a lackadaisical fashion.

Still though, Stanford is the clear favorite in this one as they have an impressive blend of size and speed.

If USC somehow pulls off the upset, they will easily jump into the Top 25 and maybe even the Top 20.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech dropped out of the Top 25 after their second loss in a row—a disappointing loss at Miami.

Things don't get any easier for Paul Johnson's squad, as they now have to host No. 5 Clemson.

However, this actually lines up pretty well for Georgia Tech, a team that loves to run the ball. Clemson is giving up 4.5 yards per attempt—75th in the country—and the Yellow Jackets could use their famous triple option to control the ball.

If Georgia Tech wins on Saturday, they are a lock for the Top 25.
