BCS Rankings: Stock Up or Stock Down for Every BCS Top 25 Team
Now that we are heading into Week 9 of the college football season, we can make a lot better judgments on teams across the country.
Forget the speculation of the season, teams have gone out and proven themselves better than expected—Clemson and Kansas State—or worse than we thought—Florida State and TCU.
Also, injuries and suspensions have played a large role in how certain schools have performed.
So looking forward, which teams are on the rise and which ones are on the decline? Here’s a breakdown of the Top 25.
West Virginia – Stock way down
The Mountaineers got absolutely demolished by Syracuse and two of their toughest games against Rutgers and Cincinnati are both on the road.
Texas – Stock down
There are three ranked teams remaining on their schedule and that doesn’t include a road trip to Baylor. They may have found a quarterback but the schedule is too tough.
Auburn – Stock down
The Tigers just gave up 45 points to LSU, have a new quarterback and still have to play Georgia and Alabama.
Georgia – Stock up
Georgia is on a five game winning streak and only has Auburn and Georgia Tech as challenges.
Arizona State – Stock way up
The Sun Devils shouldn’t lose another game in the regular season.
Texas Tech – Stock way up
The Red Raiders did something incredible by thoroughly beating Oklahoma in Norman.
Penn State – Stock up
The defense is great and Silas Redd is a budding star at running back.
Michigan – Stock down
If Denard Robinson can’t throw the football, this team can’t win the Big Ten.
Houston – Stock up
Only SMU appears to be able to stop the Cougars from having a perfect regular season.
Texas A&M – Stock up
The Aggies have rattled off three straight wins after losing close games to Arkansas and Oklahoma State.
Wisconsin – Stock down
The offense did well against Michigan State but the Badgers were exposed on defense and special teams.
Nebraska – Stock down
Losing Jared Crick for the season could be huge for the Huskers.
South Carolina – Stock way down
Stephen Garcia is gone and now Marcus Lattimore is done for the season. Until proven otherwise, it doesn’t look like this team can score.
Virginia Tech – Stock neutral
The offense is firing on all cylinders but injuries on defense could seriously hurt this team against tough opponents. They are one of the hardest teams to figure out in the country because of it.
Michigan State – Stock way up
The Spartans are riding high after two consecutive wins over ranked opponents and they’re hoping for a third against Nebraska on Saturday.
Arkansas – Stock down
What happened at Ole Miss?
Oklahoma – Stock down
Texas Tech beat them at home and showed the country how to defend against Landry Jones.
Kansas State – Stock up
It’s impossible not to have the Wildcats’ stock rising considering how poorly they were supposed to do this year.
Oregon – Stock up
LaMichael James and Darron Thomas could be out but Kenjon Barner and Bryan Bennett showed they are capable replacements. Their defense has also improved.
Stanford – Stock up
The Cardinal has beaten every team they played by at least 27 points dating all the way back to November 20th of last year.
Clemson – Stock way up
It doesn’t look like anyone or anything can stop this offense.
Boise State – Stock down
They didn’t look great against Air Force and they don’t play a ranked team the rest of the year so other teams will likely jump them.
Oklahoma State – Stock way up
The one thing the Cowboys have not been good at in the past is playing on the road. Winning by 19 at Missouri is a great sign.
Alabama – Stock up
After a rough start, the Tide came back and trounced Tennessee.
LSU – Stock way up
Tyrann who? The Tigers absolutely demolished Auburn last weekend and they’ll be riding high coming into their mammoth matchup with Alabama.
