BCS Rankings: The Toughest Game Left for Every BCS Top 25 Team

Johnathan CaceOct 27, 2011

We may be more than halfway through the college football season, but there is still a lot to be decided on the field. Conference championships are still up in the air, and there are still eight undefeated teams left in the country. And all of those teams have to play at least two ranked opponents between now and their bowl game.

For many teams like Alabama and LSU, one game will go a long way in determining who plays in the national championship, and it will be tougher than anything they’ve had to do yet.

Here’s a breakdown of each Top 25 team’s toughest game left on the schedule.

West Virginia: at Cincinnati 11/12

Texas: at Texas A&M 11/24

There is no hiding the fact that these two schools don’t like each other, and this could be the last meeting between them, with the Aggies off to the SEC. On the road, this game is incredibly tough for Texas.

Auburn: Alabama 11/26

Georgia: Auburn 11/12

Arizona State: Pac-12 Championship 12/3

With USC unable to compete in the postseason and the rest of the Pac-12 South not looking very good, the Sun Devils should reach the championship game without any problems. The hardest remaining game on their regular season schedule is either Washington State or Cal.

Texas Tech: Oklahoma State 11/12

Penn State: at Wisconsin 11/26

Michigan: Nebraska 11/19

Houston: SMU 11/19

Texas A&M: at Oklahoma 11/5

Wisconsin: Ohio State 10/29

Penn State may be the only ranked team left on the Badgers' schedule, but they dominate opponents at home. Playing at the Shoe will not be as easy against a rapidly improving Ohio State.

Nebraska: Michigan State 10/29

South Carolina: Clemson 11/26

Virginia Tech: at Georgia Tech 11/10

The Hokies have never done well against the triple option, and with so many starters out in the defensive front seven, they could be in for a wild ride in Atlanta.

Michigan State: at Nebraska 10/29

Arkansas: at LSU 11/25

Oklahoma: at Oklahoma State 12/3

Kansas State: at Oklahoma State 11/5

Oregon: at Stanford 11/12

Stanford: Oregon 11/12

Clemson: ACC Championship Game 12/3

Everyone in the ACC Coastal division has two losses except for Clemson and Wake Forest, and it’s almost a guarantee that the Tigers will beat the Deacons and/or that Wake loses another conference game. They will likely face Virginia Tech in Charlotte, NC.

Boise State: TCU 11/12

Oklahoma State: Oklahoma 12/3

Alabama: LSU 11/5

LSU: at Alabama 11/5
