BCS Rankings: Week 9 Predictions for the Top 25 Teams
Week 9 of the college football season is almost here, and with several marquee matchups, the rankings look to change drastically.
With games like Michigan State-Nebraska, Baylor-Oklahoma State, Oklahoma-Kansas State, Florida-Georgia and Stanford-USC, Week 9 looks to be another great week of college football.
Hope you don't have anything planned, as there are some must-watch games this weekend.
Here are the predictions for how every Top 25 team will perform on Saturday.
25. West Virginia Mountaineers
1 of 25The Mountaineers should bounce back nicely from a shocking loss to Syracuse, with a victory over Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights struggle to put points on the board and that is usually never a problem for West Virginia.
Look for Geno Smith to bounce back from a sub-par performance last week.
24. Texas Longhorns
2 of 25The Longhorns have lost two tough games in a row, but a trip from the Kansas Jayhawks should get things back on track. Kansas has lost five games in a row and have a brutal defense that gives up 50 points per contest.
You bring Garrett Gilbert fresh out of surgery and he'll be able to win this game for the Longhorns.
23. Auburn Tigers
3 of 25The Ole Miss Rebels were able to take things to the wire against the Arkansas Razorbacks last week. Don't expect the same thing to happen to Auburn this week when the Rebels take a trip to Auburn. This time Ole Miss won't have the crowd on their side.
Look for Michael Dyer to run wild in this game and lead the Tigers to a much needed victory.
22. Georgia Bulldogs
4 of 25Who would have thought that the Bulldogs would be right there to take a trip to the SEC title game after a horrible 0-2 start? You have to like the hot Bulldogs in this matchup in a game against a banged-up Florida team.
Georgia has a balanced team and is looking a lot better than the Gators right now, who look lost.
21. Arizona State Sun Devils
5 of 25This may be one of the ugliest games of the weekend, as the Sun Devils will mop the floor with the Colorado Buffaloes. Colorado struggles to do anything right on either side of the ball, and going up against the solid defense of the Sun Devils, the struggles will continue.
Arizona State improves to 6-2 easily.
20. Texas Tech Red Raiders
6 of 25Texas Tech is in a perfect spot for a letdown after a huge win over the Oklahoma Sooners. But the Red Raiders could take a couple quarters off and still should be able to beat a horrible Iowa State team.
Texas Tech wins and prepares for a brutal final month to the season.
19. Penn State Nittany Lions
7 of 25Penn State hasn't proved much this season, but they're going up against Ron Zook and company. We all knew it was a matter of time before that Illinois team started to crumble. You have to like the Nittany Lions to pull off a win in Happy Valley.
After this game, Penn State gets ready for the real part of their schedule.
18. Michigan Wolverines
8 of 25The Wolverines have had a week to work on things since the loss to the Michigan State Spartans and should be able to take care of business against Purdue. Let's just hope Denard Robinson doesn't turn the ball over or get hurt because things could get ugly quick.
17. Houston Cougars
9 of 25Houston scores an average of 50 points per game and Rice gives up 32 points per game. I think we all know what the outcome of this game is going to be.
If quarterback Case Keenum played in any other conference, he would be receiving some Heisman votes right about now.
16. Texas A&M Aggies
10 of 25Will this game be the first upset of the weekend? I think so.
Texas A&M has struggled all year on defense and the Missouri Tigers are balanced on both sides of the ball to not only slow the Aggies down, but keep up with them. The Tigers are also battle tested, and with a few breaks could have beaten some of the top teams in the country.
Tigers win and knock the Aggies out of the Top 25.
15. Wisconsin Badgers
11 of 25Wisconsin will be playing against the Buckeyes angry, and will be out to prove the loss against Michigan State was a fluke. The problem for Ohio State is that they can't keep up with the Badgers offense. This game may get ugly quickly as the Badgers will put up at least 30 points.
14. Nebraska Cornhuskers
12 of 25Nebraska hasn't beaten anybody and their one-dimensional offense will suffer against the great defense of Michigan State. The Spartans have already seen a dual-threat quarterback a couple weeks ago in Denard Robinson, and look what happened to him.
The Spartans win as the Cornhuskers fall in the rankings.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks
13 of 25This game will be tricky, taking a trip to Tennessee without Marcus Lattimore in the backfield. The Volunteers may struggle to put up points, but they have played great teams close the past couple of weeks. Can a sophomore quarterback lead this Gamecocks team to a victory?
I like Tennessee by the slimmest of margins.
12. Virginia Tech Hokies
14 of 25The Hokies haven't been the same team we're all use to seeing in years past, but they are still a balanced team that is hitting its stride. A trip to Duke shouldn't slow them down as the Blue Devils struggle on both sides of the ball.
Virginia Tech rolls and stays in the hunt for the ACC title.
11. Michigan State Spartans
15 of 25You can see slide No. 14 for the majority of the info, but I do believe that the Spartans will win this game because of their defense. It also doesn't hurt that Michigan State has already earned quality wins this year.
10. Arkansas Razorbacks
16 of 25Arkansas suffered a scare last week against Ole Miss, and may struggle early on against Vanderbilt and their tough defense. But like most great offenses, eventually they'll figure it out and score enough points to win. The Commodores can't score points and that's the reason they'll lose.
9. Oklahoma Sooners
17 of 25Much like Wisconsin, Oklahoma will come into this game angry and will want to take their frustrations out on somebody. The Sooners were already a more talented team than Kansas State is, and should end up winning this game.
Oklahoma has also proven more with wins over Florida State, Missouri and Texas.
8. Kansas State Wildcats
18 of 25See last slide.
7. Oregon Ducks
19 of 25Washington State may be able to keep up with the Oregon Ducks for a quarter or two, but the lack of defense from the Cougars will catch up to them. The Ducks win this game and get one week closer to the huge matchup against Stanford.
6. Stanford Cardinal
20 of 25It seems like the USC Trojans are satisfied with last week's victory over the Notre Dame Irish with all of the talking they're doing. Stanford should roll in this game as USC doesn't have the offense to keep up in this game.
The Trojans go long periods of time without scoring, and that's enough time for Andrew Luck and company to pull away.
5. Clemson Tigers
21 of 25The triple option of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets may cause this Clemson defense some problems, but will they be able to score enough to match the Tigers? I think this game will be close, but until Clemson gives us a reason not to pick them, you have to go with the Tigers.
This game will be very interesting and could be a possible upset.
4. Boise State Broncos
22 of 25Does this game really need an explanation? UNLV is one of the worst teams in all of college football and the Boise State Broncos will have this game over with by halftime.
Expect to see a lot of the Broncos backups and a possible shutout.
3. Oklahoma State Cowboys
23 of 25Last week there were a few top teams that went down, and I believe this week will be no different. The Baylor Bears will upset the Oklahoma State Cowboys as they have more than enough offensive firepower to keep up, and the difference maker in Robert Griffin.
Things will get interesting very fast once this Cowboys team loses.
2. Alabama Crimson Tide
24 of 25Idle.
1. LSU Tigers
25 of 25Idle.
