Week 8 College Football Predictions: Clemson and Teams with Easy Cover Games

T.J. McaloonOct 26, 2011

How do oddsmakers put a game like Clemson at Georgia Tech at Clemson -4.5 points?

Do they really think that we gamblers are that fickle? That we will take a look at that line and think to ourselves, “Wait, that line cannot be true. Is Clemson’s QB Tajh Boyd hurt? Is Georgia Tech going to revert back to the team that was undefeated through six games?”

What do they know?

Settle down faithful gamblers; oddsmakers have no idea what they did making this spread.

This isn’t the only game with a point spread that is easy to bet on. Here are three games that you must put money on this week:

Clemson (-4.5) at Georgia Tech

This is a Clemson team that put up 56 and 59 points in consecutive weeks against ACC teams. So how are we to think they will not do the same against the Yellow Jackets on Saturday?

Even when Clemson is put to a tough test, like they were against Maryland two weeks ago, they find a way to win and still cover by scoring a bunch of points in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Everyone is still waiting for the “Clemson Collapse", but the Tigers will win in a big way this week.

Stanford (-8) at USC

USC is a good team and this line represents their dominant victory on the road at Notre Dame last weekend. However, Notre Dame has nowhere near the talent that this Stanford Cardinal team has.

This week, USC goes up against a quarterback that is unlike anyone they have played this year in Andrew Luck. No matter what defensive schemes that the Trojans can throw at the Stanford QB, he will find a way to beat them.

Stanford will have a tough test with the Trojans, but Luck and this offense will be too much for USC to handle.

Georgia (-3) at Florida

Florida has been in a tailspin since they lost their starting quarterback, John Brantley, a month ago against Alabama.

On the other hand, Georgia has been on a huge upswing since a crushing defeat at the hands of South Carolina.

This game will see the continued rise of a Georgia Bulldogs team that is finally playing up to the talent level they came into the season with. Look for the Bulldogs to win big here as they keep on putting pressure on the Gamecocks for the SEC East division lead.

Happy gambling.
