BCS Rankings: Which Teams Are Going Up and Down?

Johnathan CaceOct 26, 2011

Henrik and Daniel Sedin have taken nearly every shift on the ice together since they were old enough to skate. Identical twins, their careers in the NHL have also been nearly identical.

They are the faces of the Vancouver Canucks and have taken turns leading the league in scoring the past two seasons.

While they are identical in so many ways, there are some differences.

But which one is the better player?

Now, you may be thinking to yourself: “Who cares? They are both great so why do we need to have one be better?” That would be a valid question, but this is hockey and we’ve abolished ties, so there has to be a winner.

Deal with it.

Who is better, Henrik or Daniel?

Who would you take?

Nebraska

1 of 6

The Huskers take on Michigan State this week and they are fresh off of two big home wins. This is the perfect time for Nebraska to sneak up on the Spartans in the Sea of Red.

If they pull off the upset on Saturday, then they should move up at least three spots because the loser of the Oklahoma-Kansas State game will also drop back in the polls.

Kansas State

2 of 6

The Wildcats have been a pleasant surprise this season, but that road is about to come to a very bumpy stop. Oklahoma will be furious after losing at home to Texas Tech and they have a lot more talent than Kansas State.

They may have a perfect record, but their wins against their four toughest opponents have come by a combined 19 points. Expect K-State to drop hard in the human polls and about four in the BCS.

Oklahoma

3 of 6

Oregon may be the highest ranked one-loss team this week, but Oklahoma will certainly be that next week. The computers hate the Ducks and a win over the No. 8 team will boost up the Sooners.

Unless an undefeated team loses this week, expect OU to be at No. 7.

Boise State

4 of 6

Boise State has a bye week this week and the Clemson Tigers play Georgia Tech who was ranked last week. Good teams have been able to slow down the Jackets this season and Clemson should do enough to outscore them.

Stanford also plays USC who can’t be ranked because of penalties, but they will get a lot of credit for beating the 6-1 Trojans. They will drop back to No. 6.

Georgia

5 of 6

The Bulldogs play Florida this week and the Gators are still considered a decent win by some of the computers.

Since no one else in the bottom third of the Top 25 is really playing anyone of note, Georgia should move up a couple spots if they win.

South Carolina

6 of 6

The Gamecocks lost star running back Marcus Lattimore for the season and they were already struggling against good defenses. In Neyland Stadium, Tennessee should be able to pull off the upset.

Since the Vols aren’t ranked, South Carolina can expect to drop at least six spots.
