Week 9 College Football Predictions: Stanford and Favorites That Will Impress
Teams like Stanford are not getting the respect they have earned through seven games this year. It’s why when the gambling lines that come out every week, some games have betting lines that you should stay away from and some games that you absolutely have to bet on.
Here are three games where you can feel comfortable laying your money down, because these teams will not only win their games, but also cover.
Stanford (-7) at USC
USC is a good team. Last week they went into South Bend and manhandled a good Notre Dame Fighting Irish team. However, last week against then No. 25 Washington, Stanford embarrassed the Huskies to the score of 65-21.
The point spread is giving a lot more respect to the Trojans than the Cardinal, as yes, this is the first tough road game for Stanford this year, but they still have the best player in college football in Andrew Luck.
Stanford does not win this game as easily as they have in their first seven victories, but that does not mean that they win this game by less than seven points.
Andrew Luck will have another monster game, throwing for four touchdowns while making fans in Indianapolis and Miami dream about April’s NFL Draft and the chance of drafting the Stanford quarterback.
Clemson (-3) at Georgia Tech
Question to the people who are responsible for betting lines? Do they watch any college football? Furthermore, have they seen this Clemson team play this year?
Apparently not, as Clemson is only a three-point favorite against the one-time ACC Coastal division leaders, Georgia Tech. Maybe, the people responsible for these lines think that Georgia Tech will somehow magically revert to their winning ways earlier this year.
Or maybe they have not paid attention to Clemson putting up 56 and 59 in their last two games against ACC teams.
Either way, put money down on Clemson this week, as they will win by putting up only 40 points.
Penn State (-5) vs. Illinois
Don’t look now, but Penn State is 7-1 and shutting teams down every week. If this Penn State team played Alabama again this week, it would be a different outcome than their Week 2 matchup.
However, instead of Alabama they get an Illinois team that is reeling after losing two straight games.
Illinois has lost whatever offensive magic they had in their first six games of the year. This week against a really good Penn State defense, the offense will be shut down again, as Penn State wins this game very easily.
There you have it, gamblers. Put wagers on these three games, as they not only are guaranteed covers, but they are teams that will continue to impress this year.
