NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Are Absolute Worst in the League?

Zach KruseOct 24, 2011

In Week 8 of the NFL season, these five teams make up the basement of the Power Rankings:

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5, No. 28)

The Jaguars' 2011 season is essentially over, and Jack Del Rio should be on his way out of Jacksonville either before the year is up or immediately afterwards. Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert is learning some tough NFL lessons while facing some of the best teams in the game early in his career. This is a team that is still in rebuilding mode.

Arizona Cardinals (1-5, No. 29)

At this same time last season, the Cardinals were 3-3. Kevin Kolb simply hasn't made a huge difference for a team that struggles on both sides of the ball. At what point does the leeway granted by a Super Bowl run out for coach Ken Whisenhunt?

Miami Dolphins (0-6, No. 30)

For the better part of 55 minutes on Sunday, the Dolphins looked like a team that had found some inner pride. Up 15-0 with under five minutes left, Miami just needed to hang on to secure their first win of 2011. Instead, the Dolphins blew a two-score lead to a guy who had completed just three passes through most of Sunday's game and then lost on a long field goal. I'm not sure you could have scripted a worse way for the Dolphins to get to 0-6.

St. Louis Rams (0-6, No. 31)

Anything that could go wrong in 2011 has for the St. Louis Rams. On Sunday, they were without Sam Bradford, and scored only seven points with backup A.J. Feeley in the game. But the real shocker was the Rams defense allowing 253 yards rushing to backup running back DeMarco Murray. This horror story of a 2011 season can't end soon enough in St. Louis.

Indianapolis Colts (0-7, No. 32)

In most seasons, the Dolphins and Rams would have strong cases to be the NFL's worst team. Not in 2011.

The Colts have confidently staked claim to that title after getting blown out 62-7 in a nationally televised game on Sunday night. NFL games simply don't end with score lines like that, no matter what kind of talent discrepancy there is. It was crystal clear that the Colts laid down and died against the Saints, and it's hard to see where this team is going to win a game in 2011. It's sad to see from one of the most successful franchises of the past 15 years.
