BCS Standings Week 9: Why Excluding Stanford from Top 5 Is a Joke

It's absolutely shocking that Stanford is not in the Top Five of the Week 9 BCS standings.

I know that sometimes these things can get screwy and eventually it should all even out, but the fact of the matter is this is absolutely ridiculous.

Stanford does deserve it, but it's more the fact that Boise State doesn't.

I completely agree with Clemson being at No. 5 considering how good they have looked this season against tough opponents, and I wouldn't even have a problem moving them down to No. 4.

The problem with moving the Tigers down to No. 4 is that the highly prestigious spot is already taken by the Broncos.

This is where the Cardinal got screwed out of the Top Five, at least for this week.

Admittedly Boise State is a very good football team and quarterback Kellen Moore is one of the best in the country.

That being said, as cliche as it is, their strength of schedule is a joke, and that's what makes ranking them over Stanford such an issue.

The Broncos are 7-0, but only one of their wins have come against a ranked opponent at the time, which was a rather unimpressive Georgia team.

Wins against Toledo, Tulsa, Fresno State and Colorado State amongst other subpar teams riddle the rest of their schedule. Sure, they've put up a lot of points, but that is not justification to rank them as the No. 4 team in the nation.

Stanford deserves to be in the Top Five, but unfortunately they've been bumped out by a team with a joke of a schedule.
