BCS Rankings: Stanford Cardinal and Teams That Should Be Rated Higher

Tim KeeneyOct 23, 2011

The second BCS Rankings have been announced, and as always, there are over and underrated teams.

Here's a look at three schools who should probably be ranked higher in the standings.

Stanford Cardinal (No. 6)

The Cardinal have been getting a lot of ridicule because they haven't played a tough schedule, but they showed yesterday it really doesn't matter who they play.

They finally played a ranked opponent and absolutely beat up on No. 25 Washington, 65-21.

The Cardinal looked dominate in every aspect of the game and have now won each of their eight games by at least 27 points.

If Boise State is ranked as high as they are, the Cardinal should certainly be ranked higher as they have played tougher opponents, won all of their games and won by larger margins.

Kansas State Wildcats (No. 8)

The Wildcats are pretty close to where I thought they would end up in these rankings, but I'm not so sure Oregon should be ahead of them.

I think Oregon is benefiting a little too much from the fact that their one loss was against No. 1 LSU.

Kansas State, on the other hand, is still undefeated. They haven't necessarily faced the toughest opponents, but they've had better wins that the Ducks.

Oregon's best win is at home against No. 21 Arizona State while Kansas State has beat No. 20 Texas Tech on the road and Miami on the road.

I agree K-State and Oregon should be close, but I feel like the undefeated team should be higher.

Houston Cougars (No. 17)

The Cougars strength of schedule isn't good, there's no arguing that. But they have absolutely been taking it to their opponents.

The Cougars are averaging almost 50 points per game, which is best in the country. They've won every game pretty darn easily and they've even beat an improving UCLA team.

Besides Boise State's win over Georgia, they don't have many better wins and they've been winning with around the same margin of victory.

I'm not saying Houston should be Top 5, but certainly shouldn't be 14 spots behind BSU. They should be at least five spots higher.
