BCS Standings: Boise State and More Big Winners from Week 8
On Saturday, Boise State got some of the help they will need if they want to play for a championship. Two of the Top 10 undefeateds fell, while Boise State continued their winning ways.
They weren't the only team that won big on Saturday.
Boise State
Previous Rank: No. 5
Projected Rank: No. 4
Boise State played early on Saturday, and their 11-point victory over Air Force looked like it might hurt them. Then the top of the polls were rocked by upsets and close games, and Boise State's win is looking a lot better.
Boise State needs the big cluster of undefeated teams to start losing and that is exactly what is happening.
Oklahoma and Wisconsin are now out of the way. Boise State still will need some help, but this is a good start.
Clemson
Previous Rank: No. 7
Projected Rank: No. 5
Clemson dismantled a solid North Carolina team by 21 points, and their undefeated season keeps on rolling and picking up steam.
Two teams in front of them lost, and they are gaining ground quick on Boise State.
They are in excellent shape as they will likely pass Boise State if they both keep winning. Oklahoma State has a big matchup with Oklahoma, and LSU and Alabama will beat each other up in a couple of weeks.
Stanford
Previous Rank: No. 8
Projected Rank: No. 6
Stanford got their first real test of the season against No. 25 Washington, and it proved not to be much of a test at all.
Stanford won easy, 65-21, and will undoubtedly receive a huge boost from easily handling the first ranked team they have played.
