BCS Rankings: 3 College Football Teams Who Are Better Than Their Current Rank
While we more often focus on teams who are "overrated" (and love to chant it at opposing teams that we're beating), it's just as important to identify which teams are underrated.
The Michigan State Spartans were underrated coming into this week, and they proved it. Here are three more teams that are currently being undervalued in the BCS Standings.
Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks have lost one game this season, as we all know, to the LSU Tigers.
They outgained the Tigers in that matchup, and really lost the game because of turnovers and big plays. Since that opening defeat, they have been flawless, blowing out each of their opponents since.
With as good as LSU looks right now, Oregon is underrated, even with a No. 10 ranking. I expect the Ducks to beat the Stanford Cardinal, just as they did last season.
Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers have successfully navigated one of the hardest schedules of any college football team so far.
They beat the Auburn Tigers and Florida State Seminoles (back when both teams were actually playing well), and most impressively beat a very good Virginia Tech Hokies team at night, in Blacksburg.
The Tigers have one of the most explosive offenses in football. This week, they proved they are better than the Oklahoma Sooners and Wisconsin Badgers, and I'd say that they're better and more proven than the Boise State Broncos, as well.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs were unranked in the first BCS Standings of the 2011 season.
While Georgia has lost two games, both losses were to very solid opponents (Boise State and the South Carolina Gamecocks), and Georgia has been playing better as the season progresses.
With a very easy conference schedule (considering they're in the SEC), it's very possible that Georgia could win out for a possible SEC Championship Game berth.
