3 College Football Teams That Recruit Well but Have Nothing To Show for It

There are some programs that really do a solid job of hauling in talent and their fanbases are always poised for a banner season. Then it never comes and the classes leave without really anything to show for it.

For this read, I'm going to give three teams that fit that mold. These programs do or have done a good job assembling good classes, but it just hasn't paid off on the field.

Let's get started.

3. UCLA

Realistically, UCLA has been bad on the field and on the trail the past few years. But look back to Rick Neuheisel's first two classes and you see he hauled in top 10 compilations in those two years.

Cool, right?

Nope. Neuheisel has gotten very little production from both classes and even star TE recruit Morrell Pressley is gone from the program. Plus, UCLA has just been bad on the field and show no signs of improving anytime soon. 

2. Georgia

Sorry UGA fans, but I have to put your squad on here. 

The Dawgs live in a talent rich and plush state so top recruits naturally wonder on to campus, let alone are recruited by UGA. They've signed some very good classes over the years and have had several top picks in the NFL Draft.

But they really have nothing to show for it...lately. I know Mark Richt has two SEC titles, which is a huge feat, but the Dawgs have no BCS title and have presumably taken a step back behind the Alabama, LSU and Florida in the SEC.

1. North Carolina

Has North Carolina underachieved in the past few years?

With talent like Hakeem Nicks, Marvin Austin, Greg Little, Robert Quinn and even today in Dante Paige-Moss and Quinton Coples, the Tar Heels should have been a BCS bowl winner by now.

They evaluate well on the high school level and bring good talent to develop. The NFL loves Chapel Hill as a scouting stop, but UNC hasn't done as well as you'd think on the field as their talent would lead you to believe.
