BCS Standings: Arkansas and More College Football Teams Not Worth Their Rank
With the Oklahoma Sooners exposed as pretenders, we must ask ourselves: which other college football teams are undeserving of their high ranking? There is certainly evidence that a number of teams are ranked too highly, whether because of their conference or where they started the season in the Top 25. Here are the most overrated.
Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks have really not done enough to merit their No. 8 ranking. They beat two ranked teams in the Auburn Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies, but Auburn is now just 5-3, and they only beat Texas A&M after the Aggies blew an 18 point lead. I don't think the No. 8 team in the country should get pounded by the Alabama Crimson Tide the way the Razorbacks did.
Kansas State Wildcats
The Kansas State Wildcats are ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll. Who in their right mind honestly thinks this is a top 10 team? Sure, the Wildcats are 7-0. But they haven't beaten a single ranked team, and they narrowly escaped losing to both the Miami Hurricanes and Baylor Bears at home. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost all of their next four games (which all come against ranked opponents).
Nebraska Cornhuskers
If you look at the most recent polls, you'll notice that the Nebraska Cornhuskers sit one (or two in the coaches) place behind the Wisconsin Badgers. I find this outrageous, considering Wisconsin just smashed Nebraska a few weeks ago. I haven't had any faith in this Nebraska team since the loss to the Washington Huskies in their bowl game last year. They haven't beaten anybody this season to prove me wrong, and they needed a huge comeback to overcome the worst Ohio State Buckeyes team in a decade.
