3 New Teams to Enter BCS Standings: Arizona State and More

Brian LendinoOct 23, 2011

Week 8 of the college football season showed us that you can't play soft, even if you're ranked. Four of the bottom six teams took a tumble on the field and will ultimately take hits in the polls.

Those four will drop out of the top 25 and new teams will take their places.

Who will those new teams be? Let's take a look.

USC Trojans

USC impressed many by traveling to Notre Dame and beating the Irish by two touchdowns.

Quarterback Matt Barkley tossed three touchdown passes and wide receiver Robert Woods delivered yet another 10-catch game.

Sitting at 6-1, the Trojans are now going to be ranked—I believe at No. 21.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Red Raiders pulled arguably the upset of the season by traveling to Norman and upsetting third-ranked Oklahoma late last night.

Their heroics won't go unnoticed.

They have the third-best passing offense in the nation and now sit at 5-2.

Texas Tech's win will vault them into the top 25, most likely at No. 22.

Arizona State Sun Devils

Brock Osweiler and the Sun Devils were on bye this week and will move into the top 25 simply because so many teams at the bottom lost.

They're a good team who I felt was deserving of an opening spot.

Now sitting at 5-2 they'll host the Colorado Buffaloes as the 24th ranked team in the country.
