BCS Rankings: LSU Tigers and Most Impressive Top 10 Teams from Week 8
Here's a quick look at three Top 10 BCS teams that looked most impressive in action yesterday.
LSU Tigers
Yet again, the Tigers blew out a Top 25 opponent. This time the unfortunate opponent was the Tigers of Auburn, who LSU drubbed 45-10.
The new suspensions for LSU didn't really matter as they controlled every aspect of the game. Their defense continues to look like one of the best in the nation and Jarrett Lee looks like the perfect quarterback for this offense.
Oh yeah, and Jordan Jefferson isn't too shabby as a backup QB with a Tim Tebow freshman year at Florida-type of role.
LSU has now knocked off five Top 25 opponents, and with the exception of Mississippi State, they've dominated all of them. There should no longer be any question about LSU being the No. 1 ranked team.
The matchup with Alabama in two weeks is going to be one of the most hyped games in a long time.
Stanford Cardinal
Many were questioning Stanford's No. 8 ranking because of the lack of quality opponents but those people have probably shut up by now.
Stanford hosted No. 25 Washington and absolutely dominated. The 65-21 victory is quite a statement, but it actually could have been even worse.
The Cardinal offense was absolutely unstoppable, and besides a few big plays from Chris Polk, their defense was pretty much flawless.
This was pretty much a flawless game from Stanford and I expect them to go undefeated on the season. They have a rare blend of toughness, physicality and speed.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys continue to show they have quite possibly the best offense in college football as they traveled to Missouri and dropped 45 on a pretty good Tigers defense.
The Brandon Weeden to Justin Blackmon connection is looking awfully tough to stop, but the Cowboys are showing they have plenty of other weapons as well.
Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith are a nice duo out of the backfield and Weeden has really spread it out to a bunch of different receivers.
The Cowboys were also impressive this week on the defensive side of the ball as they were able to force four turnovers. The rest of the nation better watch out for this team.
