FC Terek Grozny Ends Winless Streak Defeating FC Amkar Perm

Roberto Alvarez-GallosoOct 23, 2011

Terek Grozny was able to end its string of winless home matches by Amkar Perm" target="_blank">defeating Amkar Perm at home. The match itself was not an easy one since the coaches and the players of Terek Grozny are under pressure to win and advance in the Russian Premier League.

The reason was the events that lead to the removal of Ruud Gullit as coach of Terek Grozny. Ruud Gullit became coach of Terek in February 2011 with the purpose of helping the team advance and win in the Russian Premier League.

The result was that Terek Grozny advanced in the opposite direction with Gullit receiving a warning from Ramzan Kadyrov [Chechen President and Terek Grozny owner]. The warning was to produce or leave Terek Grozny.

Terek Grozny faced Amkar Perm on June 2011 and the result was a defeat for the Chechen team. Kadryov dismissed Gullit as coach under the accusation of “partying”.

Stanislav Cherchisov eventually became coach of Terek Grozny under the same conditions and pressure applied to his predecessor. The conditions and pressure were evident in the repeat match between Terek and Amkar.

Antonio Ferreira [Terek Grozny Defender] was the author of the only goal of the match for Terek Grozny. Ferreira managed to score when the ball was rebounded from a free kick originated from Jonathan Legear [Terek Grozny midfielder].

Stanislav Cherchisov congratulated the players on the victory and admitted that everything was great. The current Russian Premier League tables places Terek Grozny in 11th place with 28 points.

It remains to be seen whether Terek could advance in the Russian Premier League. The advice would be to win as many matches as possible before the end of the current Russian Premier League.

The Russian Premier League announced that they will change their season. The next season of the Russian Premier League (starting in 2012) will begin in the autumn and end in late spring.

The purpose is to place Russian Football in line with the rest of Europe.
