Michigan State Wisconsin Video: Watch Spartans Stun Badgers with Last-Second TD

No. 16 Michigan State capped off a Saturday full of upsets in college football by topping No. 6 Wisconsin, 37-31, in a pivotal Big Ten clash on a shocking, Hail Mary touchdown throw by Spartans quarterback Kirk Cousins.

With four seconds remaining in the game and the score tied at 31-31, Cousins dropped back and chucked the ball toward a crowd of Spartans and Badgers in the end zone. The attendant Badgers attempted to bat the ball down, but couldn't quite keep it out of the hands of Keith Nichol. The one-time quarterback-turned-wide receiver promptly battled his way forward, just enough to break the plain against the 'Sconsin defenders and put his team on top after an official review.

The Badgers had worked their way back from a 14-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to knot things up with 1:26 left in the game by way of a 22-yard scamper to the end zone by Heisman Trophy contender Russell Wilson and a two-yard touchdown catch by running back Montee Ball.

Mark Dantonio's team fell behind by two touchdowns in the first quarter but stormed back with 23 unanswered points to take a nine-point lead into the locker room at halftime. The two teams tussled just a bit in the third quarter before the action ramped back up in the final period.

Cousins, a senior, finished with his best performance of the season—290 yards, three touchdowns and no picks—while running back Le'Veon Bell logged a respectable 87 yards on 16 carries.

The win puts Sparty at 3-0 in conference play and firmly in the driver's seat in the Legends Division of the Big Ten, ahead of Michigan and Nebraska. As for the Badgers, they now find themselves tied with Purdue for second place in the Leaders Division, with Penn State holding steady at the top.
