2012 NFL Mock Draft: Tony Dungy's Advice to Trade Peyton Manning Laughable
Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy said on the Dan Patrick Show on Friday that the Colts should look into trading Peyton Manning if they are able to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck next year.
And while it seems intriguing given Manning's decline in health, trading Manning wouldn't benefit anyone in the Colts' organization.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
""I would see him competing and playing as long as he wanted. If it gets to the point to where, hey, he comes back and it looks like he's gonna play three or four more years, and you say -- we've got Andrew Luck, we've got an asset -- we trade (Peyton)."
"
But even if Manning is less than 100 percent the next few years, the Colts have a rare opportunity to develop a quarterback under a future Hall of Famer. Throughout the years, it's been proven that you generally don't want to throw a quarterback into the game as a rookie if you can help it. As good as Luck is, you don't put him in that position when he can be groomed under Manning.
The other issue I have with Dungy's stance is that he should know more than anyone that Manning isn't down and out yet. This is a 11-time Pro Bowler, a four-time MVP and a Super Bowl MVP. There are questions regarding Manning's health, but as long as he takes the field, he's still going to do more than most of the quarterbacks in the league and he'll certainly outperform Luck as a rookie.
The Colts have proven to crumble as a team without Manning, not just at the quarterback position. Manning took a little less money in the offseason so that the Colts could add some pieces to improve the team, but all the Colts did was stick with Joseph Addai at running back and fail to add any depth at the quarterback position. The result is the team is averaging 3.8 yards per carry this season with just three rushing touchdowns and 214.5 passing yards per game while completing 52 percent of its passes.
The Colts were bound to fall off a little bit this season after the loss of Manning, but there's no way they should be 0-6 at this point. And you're telling me you throw a young quarterback into that situation? That's a good way to ruin a quarterback.
