BCS Standings 2011: Clemson Deserves Spot in Top 2 After Huge Win over UNC

The Clemson Tigers are this year's version of the 2010 Auburn team that won the BCS Championship.

Tajh Boyd and company blew through the North Carolina Tar Heels today in a 59-38 beatdown in Death Valley. The Tigers improved to 8-0 for the first time in 11 years with the victory.

It's time to be impressed.

They have also knocked off Florida State, Auburn and Virginia Tech already this season. In the victory over the Hokies, they proved they are more than just an electric offense. They defeated Tech by a score of 23-3 in Blacksburg.

Going to Virginia to knock off the Hokies is extremely impressive. They absolutely dominated on both sides of the ball. Virginia Tech never had a chance to win.

Boyd has accounted for 28 total TDs already this year in just eight games. He may not be on pace for the 50 that Cam Newton had last year, but he will be pretty close. As of this point, Boyd is on pace for 43 touchdowns.

Clemson still has two difficult games on their schedule, but they have a legitimate chance of finishing the year undefeated and with victories over four ranked opponents.

That might not sound very impressive on the surface, but when you look at Alabama's schedule it's a bit more impressive. There is a legitimate chance that the Crimson Tide will finish the year with wins over just two to three ranked teams.

Clemson still has to get by both Georgia Tech and South Carolina, but if they can win both of those games, and the ACC Championship Game, this team deserves a shot at the National Championship.

They are in the top 30 in both rushing and passing offense, and are ranked 21st in the country in scoring.

Offense wins titles in college football, and the Tigers have everything they need to reel in a BCS Championship.

There is no way to beat around this bush, Clemson is extremely underrated, and they deserve a shot at the National Championship.
