Arkansas vs. Ole Miss: 5 Halftime Adjustments for the Hogs
Bobby Petrino is tearing the Hogs a new one as we speak. Arkansas came out flat and stayed that way for most of the first half. Dennis Johnson's 52-yard TD run was the lone bright spot in the first half. Here are five adjustments the Razorbacks will need to make to get back in this game:
Exploit Rebs' Freshmen
Tyler Wilson and the Hogs’ WR corps are going to have to find a way to come up with a few big plays to turn the tides in this game. I would look toward Jarius Wright who is matched up against true freshman and two-way player Nik Brassell, who is bound to be exhausted by the fourth quarter.
Run the Ball
Dennis Johnson’s TD run was easily the Hogs’ biggest play of the first half. What better way to get Ronnie Wingo back on track than to give him a shot against the nation’s 115 th ranked run defense anchored by two freshmen. We all know Bobby Petrino and Tyler Wilson love to throw the ball but they would be better served to exploit the gaping holes in the Rebs' run D.
Keep the Defense off the Field
It’s very hard to score when your offense is on the sidelines. The Hogs are by no means out of this game, but,Ole Miss has dominated the flow of play. If they are going to make a comeback in this game the offense is going to need to put together a few long drives and give the D a chance to catch its breath.
Find a Sense of Urgency
The Hogs looked down right flat on both sides of the ball in the first half. If they are going to come out of Oxford with a W Bobby Petrino is going to have to instill a sense of urgency in his players at halftime. Hopefully Dennis Johnson’s 52-yard TD run can help ignite the Hogs passion.
Silence the Crowd
If the Hogs are going to make a comeback and keep their SEC West hopes alive they are going to need to silence Vaught-Hemingway faithful out of this game. A few early second half TDs should do the trick.
