Anthony Conner Injury: Latest Updates Surrounding Louisville Cardinals CB

Justin WeltonOct 22, 2011

Anthony Conner took one of the most devastating hits you will ever see during the Louisville Cardinals and Rutgers Scarlett Knights game on Friday night.

He went head-on with Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu’s knee, which left Conner with a broken neck, according to reports.

He is extremely lucky he didn’t get paralyzed from his tackle. His family and friends can breathe a sigh of relief

Louisville coach Charlie Strong said that Conner was talking and squeezing his hand while he was on the ground. Talk about a scary feeling as a coach—one of your players lying almost completely motionless on the field, squeezing your hand for your support.

Strong was the one that made sure fans and Conner’s family knew it was just a broken neck, saying, “Conner broke his neck when his head hit the knee of Rutgers receiver Mohamed Sanu, but he isn't paralyzed.”

While a broken neck is serious and generally would not seem like something to be happy about, when you consider the possible lifelong consequences that could have resulted from the injury, we are all glad that it was not more serious.

As time passes, more information will be given out by doctors and specialists.
