Week 8 College Football Predictions: Predicting Winners in Top 25 Matchups
The last couple of weeks have featured some fantastic matchups between Top 25 teams in the college football world.
This week, there are a limited amount of Top 25 matchups, but the ones that are there are sure to be exciting.
One of those games features the top-ranked team in the nation.
Here is a quick breakdown for each of those games and predictions on who walks away victorious.
No. 25 Washington at No. 8 Stanford
The Washington Huskies have gotten off to a nice 5-1 start this season. They just squeaked into the BCS Rankings over teams like Arizona State and Georgia.
Unfortunately, that stay may be short lived after facing off against the top team in the Pac-12 this weekend.
All of the stories surrounding Stanford are about stud quarterback Andrew Luck.
This is rightfully warranted. Luck has the Cardinal scoring 45.8 points per game this season. That's fifth best in college football.
What has gone unnoticed is Stanford's fifth-ranked scoring defense allowing 11.2 points per game. That will be the difference in this game.
Prediction: 34-20, Stanford
No. 6 Wisconsin at No. 16 Michigan State
When the BCS rankings were released, there was a major uproar from Wisconsin fans.
This Badgers team has been the most dominant, complete team in college football so far this season.
However, due to their lack of strength of schedule they are outside the Top Five.
Wisconsin boasts the top scoring offense and the third-best scoring defense in the nation.
This weekend they take on a Michigan State team that is right behind them with the fourth-best scoring defense in the country.
Here is the difference. Wisconsin's offense will still put up points, Michigan State is going to get shut down.
Wisconsin may not put up their typical 50.2 points per game, but they will beat Michigan State by multiple possessions.
Prediction: 35-10, Wisconsin
No. 20 Auburn at No. 1 LSU
The Tigers take on the Tigers in a SEC showdown sure to be one of the most thrilling games of the week.
This LSU team may look unstoppable, but all it takes is one big showing from a rival to end their national championship dreams.
Auburn has shown signs of brilliance this season. They have also struggled with consistency.
If they come out and play a complete game, they could still be there for a battle in the end.
Chances are, LSU won't allow that to happen. This defense is going to force turnovers and force Auburn to play their game.
Prediction: 31-17, LSU
