World Football Transfer Rumours: Wesley Sneijder and 5 Big Stars on the Move

Mikhail TurnerOct 21, 2011

In today's game the players, both stars and otherwise, are always looking to further their careers by moving to greener pastures. Sometimes these moves work out greatly, and sometimes not so much.

Players may decide to move for a variety of reasons, including more money, family reasons, a new challenge, or to put themselves in the best position possible for recognition from their national squads.

Some stars are already at big-name clubs, but, either they need a change of scenery, or the club is under-performing, or both. Some of the players on this list fall in all these categories, or simply just want a move.

In any case, here is a list of five big stars that will be on the move, whether in the January window or beyond.

Wesley Sneijder

Wesley Sneijder was involved in a summer transfer saga with Premier League giant, Manchester United. At one point it was even reported that a fee had been agreed between Manchester United and Sneijder's club, Inter Milan.

There were also rumors that United's rivals Manchester City were willing to swap stars with the Italian club. It is unlikely that Sneijder would be making a mid-season move to either team since he would be cup tied in Europe.

Inter has gotten off to a very slow start in the league, though they have been decent so far in Europe. If the team does not improve throughout the season a move to England could begin to look more enticing for the Dutch star.

Carlos Tevez

We all know what is happening with Carlos Tevez at the moment, and if you really don't then, well, here. Tevez was the subject of much transfer speculation throughout the summer and it has continued as the season has progressed.

His time at Manchester City is clearly at an end and a move, whether in January or the summer of 2012, is imminent. In truth Tevez has always been somewhat of a nomadic player, and since his arrival in Europe in 2006, he has already played for three different clubs.

Former clubs Boca Juniors and Corinthians have come forward for the players services at various times, and Russian money-machine Anzhi Makhachkala could also come forward with a bid.

Marek Hamsik

Napoli has been able to hold on to star Slovakian Marek Hamsik for the last few windows, but that will not last for long.

Hamsik may be enjoying live in Naples currently, but this time next season he will most likely be in a different city, and maybe a different league. Teams like AC Milan and, of course, Manchester City have shown interest in the player.

The player himself has ruled one team out of contention, but it is only a matter of time before either ambition prods a move, or the right club comes calling.

Eden Hazard

Unfortunately for Lille, holding on to a talent like Eden Hazard is no easy task. The team has already seen two important pieces—Gervinho and Yohan Cabaye—leave over the summer, and there is little doubt that Hazard will join them sooner rather than later.

The team is not in a good position in their Champions League group currently, and they face stiffer opposition in the league this year, meaning a return to Europe's premier competition may not be a given.

A number of big clubs have made their interest in the young Belgian known. Arsenal was clearly interested in the player over the summer, and will likely follow up on that interest next summer, and maybe even this winter.

Real Madrid and Chelsea are also reportedly keeping tabs on the player.

Hulk

5 of 5

Porto FC has made a habit of finding talent at a small price and selling big. In recent years the powerful Brazilian forward Hulk has attracted the attention of various suitors, yet Porto has held on to him thanks to their apparent insistence on a ridiculous fee.

After a fantastic campaign last season the club let go of other stars like Radamel Falcao, and it seemed as if Hulk may finally head out the door. Nevertheless, Hulk stayed, but every transfer window he edges closer to a move.

Inter is supposedly interested in the Porto star and as always Manchester City is in the mix. Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are seemingly after every top player on the planet, and Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas may be looking to re-unite with his former player.
