LSU Football: 5 Teams LSU Could Face in BCS National Championship
The LSU Tigers are the No.1 ranked team in the country and look to be the apparent favorite to appear in the BCS National Championship Game this season.
Of course, in order to make the title game the Tigers will likely have to finish the regular season with an undefeated record, which includes getting a win over No.2 ranked Alabama in the November 5 SEC showdown.
As it stand right now, there are eight unbeaten teams in the AP Top 25 rankings. But if LSU does make it to the National Title game, which of those teams have the best chance of playing the Tigers?
Let's break it down, right here, right now!
5. Clemson
1 of 5This would be the matchup of the Tigers if it went down like this.
Clemson has been extremely impressive thus far this season. They are sitting pretty at 7-0 with huge wins over Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech.
The Tigers biggest test of the season will come on October 29 in a matchup against ACC foe Georgia Tech.
If Clemson wins that game, they have a legitimate chance to go undefeated and find themselves in the National Championship Game.
4. Boise State
2 of 5Boise State is having yet another dream season.
When it comes down to what teams have the best chance to remain undefeated, it's hard to not put Kellen Moore and Boise State on top of that list. They have an extremely easy schedule remaining, with the only notable game left being TCU, which is having a down year this season.
So why isn't Boise State No.1 on this list?
Because that weak schedule could hurt them in the final BCS standings and could ultimately leave the Broncos out of the title game, even with an undefeated record.
Maybe this would be good enough reason to finally go to a playoff format?
3. Wisconsin
3 of 5Wisconsin has been great this season, but a road test at Michigan State this weekend will give the college football world a taste of just how good this team really is.
We know that Russell Wilson is a stud and we know that the Badgers have arguably the best backfield in the country.
Then again, they have yet to face a defense even close to as good as Michigan State's.
If they can win this weekend's game, which is a big if, then you have to like the Badgers chances to finish the season unbeaten and land a spot in that National Title Game.
2. Stanford
4 of 5Stanford is currently ranked No.8 in the BCS poll. Why so low?
Well, its because the Cardinal simply haven't played anybody yet to date. The teams most impressive victory thus far has been a 37-10 win over 2-5 Arizona.
But that will all change soon.
Stanford will play Washington, USC, Oregon and Notre Dame in four of its six remaining games this season. If they finish that route unbeaten and win the Pac 12 title game, it would be awfully hard leaving this team outside of the title game looking in.
1. Oklahoma
5 of 5If Oklahoma and LSU both go undefeated, which they have a good shot at doing, it would be nearly impossible for a situation to arise where these two teams do not meet in the BCS Title Game.
In other words, it's likely that the SEC will face the Big 12 in the championship game. Between Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU and Alabama, two of those teams will likely be in and you have to like the Tigers and Sooners in that group right now.
If this game does formulate, what a game it would be between arguably the best offense in football against the best defense in football.
All we can do is wait in anticipation, but this one sure would be a pleasure to watch with a National Championship as the grand prize to the winner.
