Oregon vs. Colorado: Last-Minute Spread Info, Line, BCS Impact and Predictions

Andrew KulhaOct 20, 2011

The No. 10 Oregon Ducks are banged up right now, so even though a trip over to Colorado to face the 1-6 Buffaloes may seem like an easy win, the Ducks know that nothing comes easy.

Oregon's Heisman-potential running back LaMichael James missed last week's game against Arizona State with a dislocated elbow, and his status is still in question for this game.

As if that weren't enough, starting quarterback Darron Thomas is questionable with an injury as well.

The Ducks really got behind the eight ball with their opening weekend loss to now-No.1 LSU, so they cannot afford any slip-ups.

They are still talented enough to play without their two stars, but it certainly won't be a comfortable situation for last year's BCS championship runner-up.

Where: Folsom Field, Boulder, CO

When: Saturday Oct. 22 at 3:40 p.m. EST

Watch: FSN Oregon; FSN Colorado

Spread: Oregon -33

You've seen the Ducks do this before, but potentially without James and Thomas? This is a scary spread now.

Over/Under: 67

The Ducks could cover this all by themselves, but they are missing key weapons. Stay away.

Key Injuries:

Oregon: Tight end Colt Lyerla questionable (arm), place kicker Rob Beard questionable (quadricep), defensive end Dion Jordan questionable (arm), safety Eddie Pleasant questionable (knee), tight end Curtis White questionable (leg), quarterback Darron Thomas doubtful (knee), running back LaMichael James doubtful (elbow).

Colorado: Defensive back Ray Polk questionable (wrist), wide receiver Jason Espinoza questionable (concussion), running back Brian Lockridge questionable (ankle), defensive back Travis Sandersfeld questionable (ankle), wide receiver Kyle Cefalo doubtful (knee), wide receiver Paul Richardson doubtful (knee), linebacker Douglas Rippy out for season (knee), running back Rodney Stewart out until early November (knee).

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications:

This game is huge for Oregon, especially considering how banged up they are. One more loss will essentially put them out of any of the big bowl games.

Keys to Colorado Win:

Senior quarterback Tyler Hansen is at home playing a banged-up Ducks team, which means that they at least have a shot. He has a chance to leave a lasting legacy with a huge upset over Oregon, and the situation couldn't be any more perfect for him.

Keys to Oregon Win:

Backup quarterback Bryan Bennett filled in last week when Thomas went down. If he gets the start, which is still up in the air, he's going to have to just control the ball and run the offense. He's going to need to play within himself if the Ducks want to win.

Prediction:

It's hard to pick against the Ducks here even when banged up. That being said, they won't be nearly as explosive as normal.
