St. Louis Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys, Week 7: 10 Players to Watch on Sunday

Mike MoraitisOct 20, 2011

Coming into Week 7 of the 2011 NFL season, the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys are on opposite paths.

In Week 6, The Cowboys lost a hard-fought battle with the New England Patriots by only four points. Their playoff aspirations are still very much alive at 2-3,

The Rams, on the other hand, are in trouble. With their 0-5 start, they may already be looking to next season.

Week 7 still has interesting story lines for both teams in a match that is a must-see on Sunday.

Here are 10 players to watch.

Sam Bradford

1 of 10

Sam Bradford is one of those players who will be closely watched in Week 7.

Bradford will take the field with a high-ankle sprain, an injury that normally takes two to four weeks to heal.

Bradford will try to stay behind center with only six days of recuperation.

It will be a difficult injury for the young quarterback to play with, and with the Rams offensive line being so bad, it may be tough for him to finish this game.

A.J. Feeley should be ready to go at any point during St. Louis' matchup with Dallas.

Tony Romo

2 of 10

Tony Romo and the Cowboys' passing attack is fourth-best in the NFL.

On the other side of the coin, the Rams pass defense is right around average, ranked 15th in the league.

With a lackluster running game this season, Romo will look to throw more passes, and it will be the key to the Cowboys' success.

Look for the passes to be flying and Romo to go after the Rams' mediocre pass defense.

Brandon Lloyd

3 of 10

Last year's league-leading receiver, Brandon Lloyd will be putting on a new uniform in Week 7.

Lloyd was traded from one messy situation in Denver to an even messier situation in St. Louis. That shouldn't affect his morale, however, because he got the change of scenery that he wanted.

Lloyd will inject a No. 1 receiver into the Rams passing attack—something they haven't had all season.

He should have an impact this week but will only go as far as Bradford's ankle will take him.

If Bradford can't go the whole game, look for that impact to be much less with A.J. Feeley behind center.

DeMarco Murray and Tashard Choice

4 of 10

Although they probably won't need it, the Cowboys rushing attack will be closely watched this week.

The Cowboys starter, Felix Jones, may have to sit out Week 7, and the Cowboys will have a new face and a familiar one in the backfield on Sunday.

DeMarco Murray and Tashard Choice will look to revive a run game that is 27th in the NFL this season.

That revival shouldn't be difficult, considering the Rams have the worst rush defense in the NFL.

Steven Jackson

5 of 10

With Sam Bradford undoubtedly playing at less than 100 percent, the Cowboys rush defense will be important in Week 7. Steven Jackson's carries should go way up.

Last week the Rams only scored three points, but despite that, he still had 96 yards on 18 carries.

Jackson will be the focal point of St. Louis' offense this week alongside Cadillac Williams.

If the Cowboys shut them down, the Rams will really be up you-know-what's creek without a paddle.

Terrence Newman

6 of 10

After the trade-deadline acquisition of Brandon Lloyd, the Rams find themselves with a bona fide No. 1 receiver.

Despite what will be a limited passing attack due to injury and/or a bad quarterback under center, still expect St. Louis to try and get the ball to their new toy.

Enter Terrence Newman.

Being that he is Dallas' best corner, he will have the job of shutting down the Rams' best receiver.

If he can do that, expect the Rams' passing game to be in trouble.

A.J. Feeley

7 of 10

Career backup A.J. Feeley could possibly get the call this week if the injured Sam Bradford can't complete the game against the Cowboys.

He would no doubt be a downgrade at quarterback for St. Louis if Bradford can't finish.

He may not even get in the game, but one thing's for certain—it would spell trouble for an already-ailing Rams offense.

Miles Austin

8 of 10

Miles Austin has missed two games due to injury this season, but in all three of his games, he has been excellent for Dallas.

It will be interesting to see if those injuries are fully healed and if Austin will continuing making the impact for the Cowboys that he has so far this season.

If healthy, expect it to be a long day for the Rams secondary and a big week for fantasy football owners.

If he isn't 100 percent, it will make the Rams' defensive job a little easier.

Rams Offensive Line

9 of 10

Regardless of whether it's Sam Bradford or A.J. Feeley behind center, the Rams offensive line must give their quarterback protection this week.

Bradford has been sacked more times than any quarterback in football and is a testament to how bad the O-line has been.

The Rams can't expect to have success offensively if their line continues to fail them.

Not to mention, they can't expect their less-than-100-percent quarterback to last long if he keeps getting hit.

DeMarcus Ware

10 of 10

With seven sacks in five games, DeMarcus Ware has gotten off to an impressive start in 2011 for the Cowboys.

Expect that to continue in Week 7 against the Rams.

Ware should have no problems getting past the Rams' weak offensive line and into the back field. He should get some sacks this Sunday.

If the Rams' offensive line does what it normally does, expect it to be a painful day for anyone unlucky enough to line up in the backfield.

Since he is battling a back injury, keep an eye on the injury report for Ware as well.

Whether Ware plays or not, look for the entire Cowboys defensive line to have a big game.
