Dez Bryant: Jerry Jones Calling out Diva WR for Route Running Isn't Smart
The Dallas Cowboys suffered their third loss of the season, which obviously didn't sit too well with owner Jerry Jones, but that still doesn't make it smart to call out Dez Bryant, who is known for being a hot-head.
Complaining about Bryant's performance is not the best way to motivate a player to play at his best. It wasn't Bryant's fault the Cowboys lost the game, but Jones still rips him in the public eye.
If one wanted to place blame on someone for the Cowboys' loss it would go to their defense for allowing Tom Brady to beat them in a two-minute drill and not so much on the offense for failing to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sure, the offense needs to be able to deliver late in the game, but when a team has the lead, a strong defense like Dallas needs to preserve it.
Still though, critics continue to bash the offense, and Jones might be the biggest Cowboys' critic out there. You can't really blame for that, though, because this is his team.
However, calling out Bryant for poor route running doesn't bode well for the Cowboys' outspoken owner.
""Dez needs to concentrate," Jones said. "I'm not being critical of him, but he needs to continue to concentrate on his route running because there's a reason for harping on running correct routes even though you're a great receiver and that is, it gets you open and it causes other people to get open as well if each receiver will run his route." Jones also voiced his displeasure with head coach Jason Garrett's conservative play calling, but he later apologized for that stating that he is behind the head coach and, "there's no one that I'd rather have make the decisions regarding our football team right now on an offensive play call." (ESPN)
It's great to back his head coach, but how about announcing how much you believe in and love Bryant?
Instead, he decided to question how Bryant plays his position. I'm not saying Bryant needs to hear the love from his owner, I'm sure he knows it, but it's still not a wise decision to call out a diva-type player on how he performs in a game when clearly there are problems all over the team.
Singling out Bryant here doesn't do anything to help the Cowboys moving forward.
It's not as if Bryant is playing poorly, either. He was slowed by a thigh injury earlier in the year, and while nobody is perfect, he's done well when healthy.
Jones certainly has a right to speak his mind about his players because after all, he is the man who pays these athletes millions of dollars to perform.
That still doesn't change the fact that it's not very bright for Jones to make public comments that have a negative feel towards a top player of his.
Is Jones watching every practice? Is he in the meetings with Bryant as he progresses this season? Is he the one coaching the wide receiver?
No, so just let Bryant play football and things will be fine. Nobody ever calls out players like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson when they make mistakes.
A good player knows when things aren't going well and they'll do their best to turn things around. Bryant doesn't need his owner breathing down his neck and publicly bashing him.
Next week, the Cowboys host the winless St. Louis Rams, and it should be the start of a good run for Dallas. But Jones needs to keep his mouth shut before a player decides to speak back, which is something this team just doesn't need right now.
