BCS Rankings 2011: Auburn and Teams That Will Fall out of Rankings Next Week
The BCS rankings have finally been released and, as they do every year, they have drawn a lot of controversy and complaints.
Many of the complaints have been justified, the rankings are a very flawed system.
However, it's the only system that we have. Unfortunately, we have to except it for what it is.
Most of the controversy typically surrounds the top of the rankings. Right now, we are going to be looking at the bottom.
Here are three teams that made the initial cut that won't be ranked following week eight.
No. 20 Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers are a much better team than many are giving them credit for.
After this weekend, there just won't be a spot for them in the Top 25.
The Tigers face off against a different type of Tiger this weekend. The game takes place at LSU.
With a loss, Auburn will have a very good 5-3 record. In the BCS rankings, it just won't be good enough.
No. 23 Texas Longhorns
Texas is just barely hanging on at the bottom of the rankings at a 4-2 record.
Honestly, I feel that they don't deserve to be ranked there right now. There is no way that they will keep the spot following next week.
The Longhorns have beaten Rice, BYU, UCLA and Iowa State. They have lost to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Texas has a bye week this weekend.
Arizona State, Georgia, USC and others are on the outside looking in. With wins this weekend, they all deserve a spot over Texas in the rankings.
No. 25 Washington Huskies
The Huskies just snuck into the top 25 with their 5-1 record.
Washington is a very good team, but not good enough to overcome their opponents this weekend.
Washington will travel to take on Andrew Luck and the unbeaten Stanford Cardinal.
With so many teams right on the edge of making a push into the rankings, the loss will be the end of it for the Huskies.
