BCS Rankings 2011: Stanford and More Teams That Will Boost BCS Rank This Week

Richard LangfordOct 18, 2011

Stanford will increase their BCS credibility this week as they will finally face a team in the Top 25. They are not the only team that will improve their standing.

No. 1 LSU

LSU is already the No. 1 team, but that doesn't mean they can't add a little distance between them and the competition. And they are going to do just that this week.

They are the only team of the big three that will play a team in the Top 25 this week, as they battle No. 20 Auburn.

LSU will handle Auburn easily. Auburn relies on their offense to win games. LSU will shut down Michael Dyer and the rest of Auburn's offense and feast on their weak defense.

No. 6 Wisconsin

Wisconsin is getting hurt in the polls right now because of their lack of quality opponents. Their lone game over a ranked team was their throttling of Nebraska. They will add another ranked victim to their list this week.

Wisconsin is going to handle Michigan State. They will be able to shut down MSU's average offense, and they will be able to pass the ball enough to loosen up the Spartans tough run defense.

They will win by at least two touchdowns.

No. 8 Stanford

Stanford is hurting for quality opponents even more than Wisconsin. They have yet to play a team in the Top 25. They will get on this week as they host No. 25 Washington.

This is a great matchup for Stanford. The Huskies' biggest weakness is their pass defense. That can mean trouble when you are preparing to face Andrew Luck.

I expect the Huskies will put up their share of points, but they will not be able to keep up with Stanford.
