Carson Palmer Reportedly Close to Being Dealt to the Oakland Raiders
Despite the fact that Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown has repeatedly stated that he wouldn't trade disgruntled quarterback Carson Palmer, the Bengals are reportedly on the verge of dealing the former No. 1 overall pick to the Oakland Raiders, according to NFL insider Jay Glazer.
The deal would reportedly involve the Bengals getting a 2012 first-round pick as well as a conditional future pick in exchange for Palmer. The USC product has sat out the entire season and vowed to retire before ever playing another game for the Bengals.
The trade was likely necessitated by the fact that the Raiders were left without a starting quarterback after Jason Campbell broke his collarbone in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns. Campbell will be out a minimum of six weeks, but may very well be out for the remainder of the season.

At 4-2, the Raiders are just a half game behind the San Diego Chargers for first place in the AFC West and would have to start Kyle Boller under center if this trade doesn't ultimately come to fruition.
Brown may have had a change of heart because of the hefty sum he is expected to get back for Palmer. It was unknown how much Palmer would fetch on the open market, but the Raiders are clearly desperate and may have made too strong of an offer to allow Brown to continue to sit on an asset like Palmer.
