The match was played on Saturday, 15th October 2011, with a 3 p.m. kickoff and ended 0-0 with very little in the way of huge opportunities for either team.
Despite Ayr being bottom of the league prior to the kickoff and Livingston only four spots above them, the First Division remains a tightly fought affair with only the six points separating top from bottom before today's set of matches.
With Ayr's central defender Martyn Campbell out for 10 weeks with a knee injury, Chris Smith joined John Robertson in the centre. Up front Ayr went with Mark Roberts and Michael Moffat; Michael McGowan was pushing in from the left wing to supply the crosses.
Jonathan Tiffoney worked hard down the right but with most of the play moving down the left, he found himself out of the play for most of the game but when the youngster managed to place himself into the line of play, he moved with speed past his waiting marker with relative ease.
It was a terse affair with half chances at either end but come the end of the 90 minutes, a point apiece was probably the correct result which saw Ayr move up to eighth spot thanks to Dundee and Queen of the South losing their respective games.
A player collision near the end of the match took a few minutes to resolve when Ayr keeper Kevin Cuthbert and Ayr defender Chris Smith connected when trying to clear the ball from their own box. The collision resulted in the defender being taken to hospital with a severe concussion and requiring a few stitches in his mouth.
