BCS Poll: Only Stupid People Think Alabama or Nick Saban Care About the BCS Poll

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) If you are Clemson, with their history, reputation and conference backing your undefeated season, you have a right to worry about the BCS polls and where you may start off in it.

But you're an idiot if you think any member of the 2011 team or especially Nick Saban gives a rat's ass about whether they're ranked first, second, third or sixth.

This is Alabama. They settle things on the field. You win out in the SEC and it's automatic that you're in the title game; if you don't, then it doesn't matter where you were ranked in this week's BCS polls that came out earlier in the week.

How many times have I heard Saban say, "Polls don't mean a thing. It's about winning"? Just about every time he's ever been asked.

"I only worry about things I have control over." Saban has said many times to me. "I don't worry about polls, what another school is doing or what the press is saying. I can't control any of those things, so I could care less about them and won't waste any time thinking about them."

He was blasting reporters again today in his press conference for asking about the BCS poll.

Every first grader in the state of Alabama knows that the undefeated winner of the SEC will play in a national championship game no matter where they were when the first BCS polls were announced.

So why then do some reporters try and make such a big deal out of this story? Why do these reporters not know this?

Do they not realize how stupid it makes them look? Do they really think even one player is offended at not being No. 1?

Absolutely not and I know. I talk to them.

"The only poll I care about is the final one," said William Vlachos, senior center of Alabama, on the subject of where Alabama deserves to be ranked. "The rest are meaningless."

So please stop writing articles where you include Alabama in any discussion of being slighted in any poll. No one there feels slighted, no one cares.

They're just going to win and let the winning do the talking.

The only thing being slighted is that author's reputation in thinking that way and not understanding the team he's writing about.
