Carson Palmer Trade Rumors: Latest NFL Deadline News and Analysis on Bengals QB

Adam WellsOct 17, 2011

Carson Palmer's career has been on hold because he desperately wants out of Cincinnati, but the team has no desire to trade him.

While those plans may not change before the trade deadline on Tuesday, there are some teams who need quarterbacks and want to talk to Bengals president Mike Brown.

There needs to be some solution to this whole mess soon.

Palmer is wasting precious years at his physical peak trying to get away from the Bengals. Brown can't put away his ego long enough to make a trade that would be beneficial to his franchise this year or in the future.

We will have all the latest news, updates and information on Carson Palmer's trade status as we move closer to the 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.

The Carson Palmer deal is being confirmed across the wires now. The Raiders will give up their 2012 first round pick and a 2013 second round pick that could become a first round pick based on very reachable incentives.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed Jay Glazer's report:

The deal give the Raiders a potential franchise quarterback, but he will need to restructure his deal to get under the salary cap. That will not be a problem and Palmer is under contract through 2014.

Just when we thought the Oakland Raiders were turning a corner with decision making, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports drops a bomb on us.

According to the NFL insider, the Raiders and Bengals are reportedly working on a deal for QB Carson Palmer:

Reports also indicate that the conditional pick could become another first round pick.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported:

More than anything this situation screams that the Raiders think they can win now with Carson Palmer. Possibly sacrificing two first round picks for a 31-year-old QB means the Raiders wont have a chance at another top round pick quarterback for at least two more years.

More on this to come.

The Oakland Raiders lost Jason Campbell for the season due to a broken collarbone in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

With the market for starting quarterbacks so thin, they have made inquiries to the Bengals about Palmer's availability.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports said that sources were telling him that the Raiders were "trying hard to make a deal for Palmer."

Despite their efforts, it does not appear that Mike Brown is softening on his stance about trading the retired quarterback.

The Raiders do not have a lot of draft picks to offer—they got rid of their second-, third-, fourth- and seventh-round picks—so, unless they want to give up their first-round pick or a good player in return, a deal is not going to be made.
