January Transfers: Deals That Would Rock the Football World
As the January transfer window approaches, the rumors swirling around players can be a bit ridiculous at times and shock fans that a rumor about certain players are close to true.
Here are 15 of those shocking rumors that could actually turn into shock moves.
Let's be honest, though, only one or two of these moves will actually happen when it comes down to the decision making in January.
Carlos Tevez to Anzhi
1 of 13The Carlos Tevez saga took yet another turn at Manchester City in the past few weeks and it is looking like the Argentine will be one of the hot targets in the transfer window for yet another time.
Russian big spenders Anzhi Makhachkala have already signed Samuel Eto'o in the summer and with the owners having no limit on the price they are willing to pay for players, a big money splash for Tevez could be in the cards.
Robin Van Persie to Manchester City
2 of 13The past few weeks have seen Robin van Persie thrust into the spotlight of the transfer window with Manchester City apparently looking to secure the services of the Dutchman.
In recent days van Persie had said he intends to stay at Arsenal.
Arsenal need to hold on to van Persie, who not only provides a ton of experience up front but is also a consistent goal scorer for the Gunners.
Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City
3 of 13This would be a complete shock to everyone in the football world, as Ronaldo has been a perfect fit at Real Madrid and it seems like no amount of money will make the Portuguese international move away from the Bernabeu.
There are some people that think Ronaldo will eventually move away from Madrid, but that will come a long time in the future and any link to another club is complete rubbish.
Frank Ribery to Chelsea
4 of 13The French international has been linked with Chelsea in past transfer windows and could still make a move away from Bayern Munich.
With Chelsea getting old quick, a move for Ribery may not be the smartest but it would give a boost to the depth of goal scorers if Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou decide to leave.
Neymar to Anzhi
5 of 13Another name that is sure to be mentioned in the build up to the January transfer window is Neymar, who was pursued by numerous clubs in the summer.
Now with the attention backing off the Brazilian a little bit, it would be a perfect time for the Russians to make a big money swoop for the Santos forward and catch all of Europe's big clubs off guard.
Ashley Cole to Barcelona
6 of 13The Chelsea full-back has seen his name in the news recently because he is being chased by the Catalans.
As the old appear to be out at Chelsea soon, Cole could be a good pickup for Pep Guardiola and company as they look to repeat as Champions League winners.
The move would come as a shock to some because it seems that Chelsea does not have a clear replacement lined up for the England international.
Javier Hernandez to Real Madrid
7 of 13Having just broke into the Manchester United first team squad in the past year, Chicharito is now being courted by Real Madrid.
United can not afford to give up the young Mexican ,who will be a goal-scoring threat for years to come at Old Trafford and for the Mexican national team.
Riccardo Montolivo to Manchester United
8 of 13Montolivo is not the first name that comes to mind as a replacement to the great Paul Scholes in midfield but is being considered by Sir Alex Ferguson to fill that role.
United has yet to find a true replacement for the great Scholes, and Montolivo may not be able to fill his shoes but he may get a chance to if he makes the move from Fiorentina.
Mario Balotelli to Napoli
9 of 13This move actually may make some sense if you look at it in depth.
Manchester City are targeting Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli and could send Balotelli back in a swap deal.
Balotelli will probably not agree to this deal since he will be looking for glory with a top notch club, but he will not get a chance to be part of the glory at Manchester City if he continues to be benched by Roberto Mancini.
Luuk De Jong to Liverpool
10 of 13At only 21, the Dutchman is already getting attention from the big clubs in Europe, especially Liverpool who may go after another striker from the Eredivisie for a second straight January.
De Jong will no doubt be a player to watch in the near future as he may feature at Euro 2012, which is where he could earn his big money move, as January may be too early for the FC Twente player.
Wojciech Szczesny to Barcelona
11 of 13This move makes no sense at all for both clubs, but yet it is still to be rumored a deal may be done between Arsenal and Barcelona.
Arsenal do not have a consistent first team keeper behind Szczesny with Manuel Almunia out on loan at West Ham and Barca have Victor Valdes as their No. 1 keeper.
The odds of this deal going down are slim to none, and it would shock fans if this deal was done in January.
Lassana Diarra to Doncaster Rovers
12 of 13There is a huge drop in competition from La Liga to the English Championship and that would be what Lassana Diarra would be doing if he signed for Doncaster Rovers from Real Madrid.
The idea of a Championship side signing a player from La Liga is just absurd, but in today's football age, you never know where players will go if they get the right amount of money.
Lucas Ocampos to Chelsea
13 of 13You may ask, who is Lucas Ocampos?
Well he is the next young South American starlet to be linked with the top European clubs, and lately he gained some attention from Chelsea.
At only 17, a move overseas to Europe would be shocking, and with only one year of first-team football under his belt, Ocampos will not be a good fit and any transfer involving him is pure speculation at this point.
