Real Madrid Transfers: 5 Players Jose Mourinho Could Use in January
Every time the transfer window opens, Real Madrid has the potential to splash the cash.
As one of the biggest clubs in the world, Real has often played the part, spending big amounts on stars like Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Luis Figo in the past.
What will the Spanish giants do in January?
At this point, with more than two months left until the transfer window reopens, it's hard to know.
What we do know is that Real Madrid and manager Jose Mourinho have been linked to several players in recent weeks.
Some of them could join in January; some of them might not. Or maybe the club will go after a different set of players entirely.
Only time will tell.
Carlos Tevez
1 of 5Who: Carlos Tevez
Current club: Manchester City
Status: Disgruntled superstar looking to move on
Our take: Stop the presses! Carlos Tevez and Manchester City can't get along!
Okay, so that's old news. By this point, so are the rumours about Tevez and Real Madrid.
Here are some of the sources joining in the fun: The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror and the Manchester Evening News. Fun!
Will Tevez leave Manchester City? Almost certainly. Will he head to Madrid? We'll find out in January.
Neymar
2 of 5Who: Neymar
Current club: Santos
Status: Inevitable future superstar receiving inevitable courtship from inevitable big club
Our take: This one has legs.
The story has been running for months. In the summer, Neymar supposedly chose Real Madrid over Barcelona.
Last month, he supposedly passed a medical with Real Madrid.
Last week, Real Madrid and Santos supposedly reached a €58 million agreement.
You know how these things go. Everything is a rumour at first. Then there are denials. Then the story drags out for a few months.
Then Real Madrid gets its man.
Always happens. It probably will this time too, whether it's in January or next summer.
Eden Hazard
3 of 5Who: Eden Hazard
Current club: Lille
Status: Up-and-coming midfield star looking for a bigger club
Our take: Arsenal might come to rue its failure to buy Hazard when it had the chance.
The English club has been trying to sign Hazard for some time now, but Real Madrid recently joined the race, according to Hazard's agent.
Hazard would probably get more playing time at crisis-stricken Arsenal, but he'd surely win more trophies with Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old Belgian winger will probably have his choice, either in January or next summer.
Luis Suarez
4 of 5Who: Luis Suarez
Current club: Liverpool
Status: Top-class striker enjoying the prime of his career
Our take: This rumour is tough to believe.
Suarez seems happy at Liverpool, where he's been playing some of the best football of his career.
You can't ever rule out a Real Madrid move simply because the Spanish giants are always willing to spend so dang much.
But something big would have to happen to get Suarez unsettled at Anfield. Something like a racism controversy? Maybe.
Javier Hernandez
5 of 5Who: Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez
Current club: Manchester United
Status: Promising young player turning himself into a bona fide star
Our take: At one time, this rumour didn't seem all that farfetched.
It does now.
Since that rumour came out, Chicharito has signed a contract extension. With that out of the way, look for him to improve on his solid, 20-goal performance last term.
