BCS Rankings 2011: Alabama Crimson Tide and 3 Teams with a Right to Complain
The first BCS rankings of the 2011 college football season have been released, and as usual, everyone believes their team should be ranked higher.
Having computers decide who is the best team in the country is something college football fans love to debate over, and once the rankings are revealed each week there's always an outcry as to where their favorite team should be ranked.
You can make a case as to why a number of teams should be higher or lower, but some teams have no right to protest their ranking at all.
Here are three teams that have a right to complain about their BCS ranking.
No. 2 Alabama
Alabama fans all around the south will be grumbling today about how the Crimson Tide should be No. 1.
They certainly have a right to do so because Alabama has been quite impressive this season, holding opposing teams to an average of seven points. The most points Alabama has allowed was 14, which was against Arkansas.
The Crimson Tide defense has been outstanding, and their offense has been humming with running back Trent Richardson.
I still believe that LSU deserves the top spot, but that doesn't change the fact that the Crimson Tide has every right to complain about not being the top overall team. Alabama is arguably just as good as LSU, which only makes their Nov. 5 showdown with the Tigers that much more exciting.
No. 6 Wisconsin
The Badgers have been a very fun team to watch this season because they are absolutely crushing every team in their path.
The reason they missed out on the Top 5 is because their schedule hasn't been very difficult, but the same could be said for Boise State.
Both teams aren't having any trouble against their opponents, but to me the Badgers have been much more impressive. Plus, the Badgers have the better win over a ranked opponent, having thrashed Nebraska a few weeks ago.
Russell Wilson has given this team new life and it's hard to see any team stepping up and defeating Wisconsin.
Wisconsin has yet to be challenged, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be one of the Top 5 teams in the country as the Badgers are demolishing every team on their schedule.
No. 9 Arkansas
The Razorbacks have one loss on their schedule, but it was at the hands of the No. 2 team in the country.
Arkansas has great wins over No. 17 Texas A&M and No. 20 Auburn, who were both in the Top 15 when the Razorbacks defeated them.
Bobby Petrino has done a good job with this team, and Arkansas fans have every right to say they're a better team than Stanford.
The BCS loves winners, which is why undefeated Stanford is ahead of Arkansas, but the reality is that the Razorbacks have proved they can handle a tough test, whereas Stanford has yet to beat anyone of worth.
