BCS Rankings 2011: 5 Unranked Teams That Will Soon Enter BCS Poll
Find your favorite team shafted by the initial BCS rankings? Not to worry. There are plenty of teams who will enter the rankings in the very near future.
A disappointing loss may have pushed promising teams out of the BCS rankings, but it's only a matter of time before pretenders work their way out, and the rankings sort out who really belongs in the top 25.
Here are five unranked teams that will soon enter the BCS rankings.
Arizona State
Arizona State's painful loss on the road to Illinois looks far worse now than it did then. To make matters worse, ASU picked up another loss on the road to Oregon just before the rankings dropped.
Even so, the Sun Devils have a great shot at running the table en route to the Pac-12 Championship game.Brock Osweiler has proven he's got what it takes to lead the Sun Devils and with a fairly soft Pac-12 schedule, the Sun Devils will likely be favored for the rest of their regular season games.
Georgia
Georgia kicked off the season 0-2. It was an awful start to the season, but after being pummeled by a nightmare start to their schedule, they've started to work their way back towards legitimacy. the worst of Georgia's schedule is over. With a lot of chances to prove themselves, the Bulldogs enter the rest of the season with nothing to lose and a ton of opportunities to jump into the rankings.
Notre Dame
Notre Dame might be the most unpopular BCS snub. They have two losses, but they could quite possibly win every game until they face Andrew Luck and Stanford to close out the season. If they can beat USC this week, this could be their last week of being unranked all season long.
SMU
SMU suffered a loss right out of the gate to Texas A&M. While their perfect record since hasn't been enough to get them into the BCS rankings, they can take advantage of a cupcake Conference USA schedule. their only real challenge will come against Houston and a win in that game would give them another signature win to go alongside their victory over TCU.
Baylor
Baylor has two losses this season, and their last one was a 55-28 blowout. Robert Griffin III could be out of the Heisman race at this point and Baylor has gone from undefeated dark horse to yesterday's news. Their season is nowhere near hopeless, though. They have a treacherous Big 12 schedule awaiting them, but it only takes one big win for Baylor to be considered a force again.
