Top 50 Most Important Things We Learned from the NFL's Week 6

Tony SantorsaOct 16, 2011

The NFL's Week 6 has come and gone and it was simply amazing. The 2011 keeps getting better and better as each week of football continues to top the previous week.

During this week of action we saw the Detroit Lions lose while Jim Schwartz and Jim Harbaugh went at it, the Buffalo Bills lost first place in the AFC East and the Green Bay Packers continue to roll.

Allow me to kickoff your work week with the top 50 most important things that we learned from the NFL's Week 6.

The Green Bay Packers Are Just Too Good

1 of 50

The Green Bay Packers continue to roll as they're the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers steam-rolled the St. Louis Rams, 24-3, as the team scored three touchdowns in the second quarter alone.

The St. Louis Rams Are Just a Bad Football Team

2 of 50

It's amazing how a team from last season that went 7-9 and entered this season with so much promise and hope could be so bad.

The St. Louis Rams have taken several steps back from last season and now are an embarrassing 0-5.

St. Louis Simply Cannot Score Points

3 of 50

Somehow the St. Louis Rams managed to gain more yards and more first downs than the Green Bay Packers in their 24-3 loss.

The Rams were able to accumulate 424 yards but somehow found a way to score only three points.

All in all, St. Louis cannot score points.

Aaron Rodgers Is Unstoppable

4 of 50

Can any team slow down Aaron Rodgers? I don't think so.

Rodgers threw for 310 yards against St. Louis Sunday as he threw three touchdowns and just one interception.

Sam Bradford Didn't Play That Bad Against the Packers

5 of 50

Sam Bradford wasn't the reason why the St. Louis Rams lost against the Green Bay Packers.

The second-year quarterback out of Oklahoma completed 28 of his 44 passes for 321 yards but threw one interception and no touchdowns.

The Buffalo Bills Are in Second Place in the AFC East

6 of 50

The Buffalo Bills fell just short against the New York Giants as Lawrence Tynes nailed a 23-yard field goal with 1:32 left in the game.

Buffalo now falls to 4-2, which is good enough for second place in the AFC East—ahead of the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.

Eli Manning Did Not Throw Any Interceptions in New York's Win over Buffalo

7 of 50

Eli Manning was simply sharp in New York's victory over the Buffalo Bills—he did not throw a single interception.

Manning completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 292 yards but did not toss a single touchdown.

No Team Can Stop Fred Jackson

8 of 50

The Buffalo Bills may have lost against the New York Giants, but the Giants could not stop Fred Jackson—he was unstoppable.

Jackson ran for 121 yards and a touchdown as he caught five passes for 47 yards. He is the juice that makes Buffalo's offense work.

Ahmad Bradshaw Has the Potential to Be an Elite Running Back

9 of 50

If Ahmad Bradshaw could run every week like the way that he ran against the Buffalo bills.

Bradshaw punched in three touchdowns on the ground as he accumulated 104 yards on the ground while catch two passes for 26 yards.

Buffalo Will Lose If Ryan Fitzpatrick Turns the Ball over Often

10 of 50

The Buffalo Bills are a good football team, but they're not good enough to overcome turnovers.

Ryan Fitzpatrick did throw two touchdowns against the Giants but he was picked off twice, as those were the team's only turnovers.

If Fitzpatrick can't take care of the football, the Bills will lose.

Victor Cruz Is Either Hot or Cold from Week to Week

11 of 50

Victor Cruz is either white hot and on fire or he's ice cold, and I mean frozen.

Cruz has been white hot the last three weeks for the New York Giants, but was literally frozen against Buffalo as he caught only two passes for 12 yards.

The Indianapolis Colts Could Easily Go 0-16

12 of 50

Can the Indianapolis Colts win a football game this season?

The Colts are now 0-6 after their 27-17 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Without Peyton Manning, the Colts could easily finishing the season 0-16 meaning they'll have the first overall pick in next year's draft.

The Colts Are Well on Their Way to Winning the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes

13 of 50

Now that the Colts are 0-6, they could easily end up losing the remaining games on their schedule. The Colts will have to face the Saints, Titans, Falcons, Jaguars, Panthers, Patriots, Ravens, Titans, Texans and Jaguars—all games in which Indy could easily lose.

So what does that mean? The Colts are well on their way to having Andrew Luck fall right into their laps in next year's draft.

Andy Dalton Continues to Get Better Every Week

14 of 50

How good is Andy Dalton? Well the rookie out of TCU completed 78.1 percent of his passes for 264 yards and one touchdown.

Dalton is playing like a seasoned veteran, he gets better and better every week.

Andy Dalton Has a Very Bright Future

15 of 50

Andy Dalton is the reason why the Cincinnati Bengals are 4-2 thus far this season.

Dalton has completed 62.4 percent of his passes on the year while tossing seven touchdowns and being picked off only four times.

The rookie out of TCU that has a 84.3 quarterback rating certainly does not look like a rookie.

Curtis Painter Is a Decent Starting Quarterback

16 of 50

Curtis Painter is no means anything close to Peyton Manning, but he's a decent starting quarterback. He's not awful but he's not great, he's simply above average.

Painter completed 67.6 percent of his passes against the Bengals as he threw for 188 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Painter certainly can't carry the Colts but he's not the reason to their struggles.

Cam Newton Looked Like a Rookie Against the Atlanta Falcons

17 of 50

Cam Newton has played phenomenal so far this season for the Carolina Panthers but this past weekend's game was by far his worst of the season.

Newton threw three interceptions will posting 44.6 passer rating but he did run for 50 yards and a touchdown in the Panther's 31-17 loss against the Falcons.

Matt Ryan Finally Bounced Back to Normal Against the Panthers

18 of 50

Matt Ryan has been rather inconsistent for the Atlanta Falcons this season but against the Panthers Sunday, he was extremely efficient.

Ryan threw for 163 yards as he completed 14 of his 22 passes for one touchdown while recording a 101.1 quarterback rating.

Michael Turner Is a Human Bowling Ball

19 of 50

The Carolina Panthers could not stop Michael Turner, he literally run all over the Panthers in Atlanta's 31-17.

Turner ran for an incredible 139 yards on 27 carries for two touchdowns. He was unstoppable.

The Panthers Are Not Ready to Compete for the Playoffs This Season

20 of 50

Despite having young talent with loads of potential, Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers are not ready to compete for a playoff spot in 2011.

The Panthers are now 1-5 on the season and were able to put up fights in every single game this season besides their most recent battle against the Atlanta Falcons—the Falcons are simply too good for the Panthers.

Jim Harbaugh Is Clearly a Rookie Head Coach

21 of 50

You can go either way on this one: Jim Harbaugh acted like an amateur head coach while Jim Schwartz overrated and acted classless.

Either way, wasn't this awesome? I personally love the guy with the goatee in the suit continued to stay in the middle of this trying to keep things in check.

The San Francisco 49ers Are for Real

22 of 50

The San Francisco 49ers pulled off the most impressive win of the season with an incredible and gusty 25-19 over the previously undefeated Detroit Lions.

The 49ers are now 5-1 and are sitting pretty atop of the NFC West.

The Lions Are Not as Dominant as We Thought They Were

23 of 50

Don't get me wrong, the Detroit Lions are a very good football team and a definite playoff contender, but they are not unstoppable.

The Lions definitely have weaknesses and flaws as they fell just short against the 49ers, 25-19.

Detroit is now 5-1 on the year, which is good enough for second place in the NFC North.

Frank Gore Is White Hot, He Is on Fire

24 of 50

Frank Gore literally put the 49ers on his back against the Detroit Lions and carried the team to an impressive upset victory.

Gore ran for a phenomenally 141 yards on only 15 carries for one touchdown.

The Inconvenient Truth has now ran for 393 over the past three weeks.

Matthew Stafford Wasn't Accurate Enough to Beat the 49ers

25 of 50

Matthew Stafford did throw two touchdowns and no interceptions against the 49ers, but he only completed 56.0 percent of his passes.

Stafford needs to be more accurate in order for the Detroit Lions to win against good teams.

Detroit Cannot Win Without a Ground Game

26 of 50

The Detroit Lions could not run the ball against the San Francisco 49ers—they're ground attack was completely awful.

The Lions ran for only 66 yards on 18 carries, which is a pitiful 3.8 yards per-carry.

The Philadelphia Eagles Finally Are Back on Track

27 of 50

The Philadelphia Eagles are still in a major hole, but they're marking progress with their 20-13 victory over their divisional foe, the Washington Redskins.

Philly is now 2-4, which slots them in four fourth place in the competitive NFC East.

Rex Grossman Showed His True Colors Against the Eagles

28 of 50

So far this season Rex Grossman hasn't been that bad, he's been decent—but he simply fell apart against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.

Grossman was pulled after he completed 40.9 percent of his passes for 143 yards while being picked off four times.

Did Grossman lose his starting job? What do you think?

John Beck Wasn't Great in Relief of Rex Grossman

29 of 50

John Beck went eight of 15 for 117 yards in relief for Rex Grossman after he was picked off four times. Beck wasn't much better than Grossman, but he didn't turn the ball over.

What do you think? Is Beck a better option than Grossman?

If Washington Cannot Run the Ball, They Will Lose Miserably

30 of 50

How bad was Washington's ground attack against the Eagles? Well, they ran for an average of 3.0 yards per-carry while accumulating only 42 yards.

If the Redskins can't run the ball, their two quarterbacks are simply not good enough to bail them out.

Michael Vick Was Not That Effective Against Washington

31 of 50

Michael Vick continues to look like the quarterback that he was back during his Atlanta days, a run-first quarterback.

Vick completed only 58.1 percent of his passes for 237 yards and one score but was picked off once. On the ground, Vick tucked the ball and ran for 54 yards on seven carries.

Blaine Gabbert Played Fairly Well Against the Pittsburgh Steelers

32 of 50

For a rookie going against a very tough defense, Blaine Gabbert wasn't that bad. He completed 46.2 percent of his passes for 109 yards and one touchdown while recording a 70.8 quarterback rating.

Granted those aren't very good numbers, but he is a rookie going against one of the league's top defenses.

Rashard Mendenhall Ran the Ball Down Jacksonville's Throat

33 of 50

Rashard Mendenhall literally physically punished the Jacksonville Jaguars in Pittsburgh's 17-13 win.

Mendenhall was a bowling ball as he ran for 146 yards on 23 carries while punching in one touchdown.

Jason Campbell Will Likely Miss the Remainder of the Season

34 of 50

The Oakland Raiders' playoff hopes could have disappeared against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday as Jason Campbell suffered an awful injury.

Campbell reportedly broke his collarbone against the Browns and is likely to miss the remainder of the season.

There Is No Chance That Terrelle Pryor Will See the Field Anytime Soon

35 of 50

With Jason Campbell likely done for the entire season, there is no chance that Terrelle Pryor will be the starting quarterback anytime soon.

The Oakland Raiders' starter is Kyle Boller, not Pryor.

Pryor missed the first five games of a season due to a suspension and was not able to practice with the team—meaning that he knows absolutely nothing about Oakland's offensive system.

Colt McCoy Was Too Inaccurate Against the Oakland Raiders

36 of 50

Colt McCoy may have thrown two touchdowns and no interceptions but did complete only 46.7 percent of his passes.

The NFL is a passing league, which means that McCoy has to be accurate—21 of 45 is simply not good enough to win ball games in this league.

Ray Rice Ran All over Houston's Defense

37 of 50

Ray Rice could not be stopped against the Houston Texans in Baltimore's 29-14 victory.

Rice ran for 101 yards for 24 carries—typical Baltimore smash-mouth football.

The Houston Texans Are Not Ready to Be an Elite Team Quite Yet

38 of 50

The Houston Texans did not look impressive in their 29-14 loss against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Texans are now 3-3 on the year and are currently in a two game losing streak and appear to be  not ready to win against some of the NFL's top tier teams, like the Ravens.

The Houston Texans Need to Run the Ball More Effectively in Order to Win

39 of 50

The Houston Texans aren't that good to be able to solely rely on the arm of Matt Schaub.

Arian Foster ran for only 49 yards in the team's loss against the Baltimore Ravens.

Overall, the entire team accumulated only 93 yards on the ground—that is not good enough to beat a team like the Ravens.

Sean Payton Messed Up His Knee on the Sidelines Against the Buccaneers

40 of 50

I'm glad that I'm not Sean Payton right now.

The New Orleans Saints head coach was hit pretty hard on the sidelines by his tight end Jimmy Graham, who was being knocked out of bounds by a Tampa Bay defense.

Payton reportedly suffered a torn MCL and fractured tibia—how painful is that?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Can Compete with the New Orleans Saints

41 of 50

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to hold off the New Orleans Saints this past weekend with an impressive 26-20 victory.

The Buccaneers are now 4-2, along with the Saints, who now sit atop of the NFC South.

Tom Brady Isn't Called "Tom Terrific" for Nothing

42 of 50

Tom Brady could not be anymore clutch; he defines the word clutch.

Brady and the Patriots got the ball with 2:31 left in the game on their own 20-yard line trailing 16-13—but Brady was magnificent.

In the game-winning drive, the reigning MVP completed eight of his nine passes for 78 yards concluding with a eight yard touchdown pass to Aaron Hernandez.

Tom Brady is the NFL's best.

New England's Defense Isn't That Bad

43 of 50

Entering Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, many believed that this was going to be a shout-out—it was not.

New England's defense held Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys in-check as they allowed 377 yards but did force two turnovers and holding Dallas to four of 12 of third-down.

Tom Brady Responded Well After Being Knocked Around

44 of 50

The Dallas Cowboys did a very good job defensively, as they got to Tom Brady and they hit him often.

Brady was sacked a total of three times but was hit 15 times—but that did not phase Brady.

Granted, Brady was picked off twice but he did complete 65.9 percent of his passes for 289 yards and two scores.

Tony Romo Was Not the Reason Why the Cowboys Lost

45 of 50

In my opinion, I believe that Dallas' play selection was almost bizarre—they constantly ran the ball in passing situations, which ultimately lost the game for them.

Tony Romo wasn't that bad, he was actually effective. Romo completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 317 yards and one touchdown, but was picked off once.

Andre Carter Is New England's Best Defensive Acquisition

46 of 50

There's no question about it: Andre Carter was New England's best defensive acquisition this offseason.

Carter rose to the occasion against the Dallas Cowboys as he recorded a team-high two sacks as well as three tackles.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick Have Tied Dan Marino and Shula

47 of 50

How good is the combination of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick? Well for starters, it's as good as Dan Marino and Dan Shula, and will be better in a few weeks.

Brady and Belichick have now tie Marino and Shula for 116 wins for a quarterback and head coach combination.

Definitely an impressive milestone.

Aaron Hernandez Is New England's X-Factor

48 of 50

I am convinced that Aaron Hernandez is virtually unstoppable—he cannot be covered.

Hernandez reeled in eight passes for 68 yards as well as the game-winning touchdown.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hernandez is New England's x-factor—no other team has someone quite like him.

Chad Ochocinco Is a Complete Waste of a Roster Spot

49 of 50

Will Chad Ochocinco ever catch on with the New England Patriots? To be honest, I do not believe he will. I believe that Ochocinco is a waste of a roster spot as his skills have clearly diminished.

On the year, Ochocinco has caught only nine passes for 136 yards and no touchdowns.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ochocinco is cut during New England's bye this week.

Jay Cutler Was Extremely Effective Against the Minnesota Vikings

50 of 50

If the Chicago Bears can keep Jay Cutler protected, then they will be a very good offensive football team.

Cutler was sacked only one time in the team's 39-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Cutler completed 21 of his 31 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bears are now 3-3 on the season.
