Time for Washington Redskins to Bench Rex Grossman in Favor of John Beck
The Washington Redskins entered Week 6 with a 3-1 record, in first place in the NFC East, and had an opportunity to all but end any chances the Philadelphia Eagles had of making a run at the playoffs after their disastrous 1-4 start.
However, after a disastrous start of his own in today's game, Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman was yanked from the game. The Redskins fell to the Eagles, and now head coach Mike Shanahan faces the sort of situation that drives coaches up the proverbial tree...a full blown quarterback controversy.
Grossman was absolutely horrid in today's game, completing only 9-of-22 passes for 143 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions before being replaced by fifth year pro John Beck, who did fairly well in getting Washington back into the game, completing 8-of-15 passes for 117 yards and rushing for the Redskins only touchdown of the day.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
A hot topic on sports talk radio shows in the nation's capital in the upcoming week will undoubtedly be who should be under center next week when the Redskins travel to face the Carolina Panthers, but in my opinion there's really not much of a controversy at all.
John Beck should start at quarterback for the Redskins in Week 7.
Since his strong opening day start against the New York Giants, Rex Grossman's performances have gotten steadily worse.
Over his past two games he's completed less than 50 percent of his passes for one touchdown versus six interceptions, and as those numbers clearly demonstrate the turnovers and bad throws that have dogged Grossman throughout his nine-year career have once again reared their ugly heads.
In the preseason many people speculated that the starting quarterback job was John Beck's to lose, as Washington offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has often spoken highly of Beck's talent and physical tools.
It's time for the Redskins to see if that faith in John Beck is justified. If the Washington Redskins are serious about contending in the NFC East they're not going to do it with Grossman as their starting signal-caller.
