AP Poll College Football 2011: The 5 Most Overrated Teams in the AP Poll
The recently released AP Poll shows some movement in the rankings, including Kansas State jumping to the No. 12 spot.
The Wildcats are 6-0 on the season, but have yet to face any of the Big 12 powerhouses.
With so many big conference games still ahead of us, many teams' records are inflated, leading to teams being overrated in the polls.
Here are the five most overrated teams in the AP Poll.
No. 12 Kansas State Wildcats
1 of 5The surprise team of the 2011 season, Kansas State has stormed out of the gates with a 6-0 start.
They have wins over Baylor and Miami, but have yet to hit the brunt of their Big 12 schedule, which could prove problematic for the Wildcats.
It is a nice story to see what Bill Snyder is doing with the program, but simple and plain, the Kansas State Wildcats are not the 12th-best team in the nation, and it wouldn't surprise any of us if they ended up out of the Top 25 by season's end.
No. 5 Boise State Broncos
2 of 5Every season Boise State runs through their cupcake schedule, and every year they complain about not playing in the BCS National Championship Game.
Well Boise State fans, you don't deserve to play in the National Championship Game.
If you want to be more respected, play more than one good team a year, and make that good team better than the Georgia Bulldogs.
Blowing out teams like Colorado State every week is not a good look for a team that wants to be respected.
Join a real conference and then we'll talk; until then, you are overrated every year.
No. 13 Nebraska Cornhuskers
3 of 5Without a statement victory thus far, the jury is still out on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their first season as a member of the Big Ten.
In their only game against a ranked team, Nebraska got thumped 41-17 by the Wisconsin Badgers.
With Taylor Martinez throwing as many interceptions as touchdowns, it is hard to say that the Cornhuskers are the 13th-best team in the country.
If they take down Michigan State at home in two weeks, they could be for real but until then, the jury is still out on the Cornhuskers.
No. 21 Houston Cougars
4 of 5The Houston Cougars have started the season 6-0 with the top-ranked passing offense in the nation at 435.5 yards per game.
The only issue is they haven't played a worthy opponent all year.
Just like Boise State, the Cougars have blowout victories over teams like Louisiana Tech and Georgia State.
With all cupcakes ahead of them, the Cougars could very well finish the season undefeated and don the title of most overrated team in college football.
No. 14 South Carolina Gamecocks
5 of 5With a 6-1 record, the South Carolina Gamecocks certainly deserve the No. 14 spot in the rankings, but with the injury to Marcus Lattimore, they may not hold on to it for long.
The Gamecocks also dismissed starting quarterback Stephen Garcia last week.
Connor Shaw stepped in and threw two interceptions on Saturday, as the Gamecocks barely came out with a win against Mississippi State.
Without Lattimore, the Gamecocks are not the 14th-best team in the country.
