BCS Predictions: What the BCS Bowls Would Look Like Right Now
The five BCS Bowl games are what we college football fans live for. Every one of us may hate the BCS, but every year we live through it and see some pretty great match-ups in Florida, Louisiana, Arizona, and California.
This year, we have eight undefeated teams left in the top 10 and all have to potential to stay put for the next couple of weeks. However, let us pretend the regular season ended yesterday. Where would everyone end up in the BCS Bowl picture? Who would get to travel where?
Each BCS Bowl game is unique with its own perks and teams from the north love to travel to the south for some nice warm weather in January.
If it all ended right now though in October, here's where which schools would go for their winter retreat.
Orange Bowl: Clemson vs Oregon
1 of 5The Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla., features the ACC Champion against an at-large bid. #8 Clemson takes the ACC's top spot with ease and heads south to the sunshine state and who better to join them than Oregon.
The #9 Ducks are tied for first in Pac-12 play but rank behind #7 Stanford in overall record. Therefore, they head off on a cross-country trip to play the Tigers. Each team features strong, quick offenses with mobile quarterbacks, which would make this game a shootout to the last touchdown.
One of the most exciting games of the BCS Bowls, Clemson vs Oregon would end badly for the Tigers.
Oregon takes the victory back to Eugene, 45-38
Rose Bowl: Stanford vs Wisconsin
2 of 5The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., features the best of the Big Ten against the top-ranked team from the Pac-12. Two undefeated juggernauts would meet in a great match—up with #4 Wisconsin returning for the second year in a row.
Last year, the Badgers lost a nail biter the TCU while #7 Stanford went down the the Orange Bowl and pulled off a win over Virginia Tech. Wisconsin's high octane offense is fast, powerful, and doesn't slow down while Andrew Luck and and the Cardinal love to put the ball in the air while their defense forces turnovers and makes big stops.
The Badgers take revenge for last year's close call, coming into Pasadena and winning 35-17.
Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs Boise State
3 of 5The Sugar Bowl is a great venue, taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana. The SEC's best takes on an at large-bid, making way for #2 Alabama to face off against #5 Boise State.
The Broncos have been BCS busters for a few years now after stunning Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. Now though, taking on one of the SEC's most potent football universities would provide the best test for Boise State.
Trent Richardson may be the superstar for the Crimson Tide, but it's the defense that will make a difference in this game. Kellen Moore is a deadly accurate quarterback who can obviously play with SEC teams, forcing Georgia's defense to crumble before him earlier this season.
Boise plays one of their best games of the year, but go on to lose a heartbreaker to Alabama in overtime, 24-21.
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs West Virginia
4 of 5The Fiesta Bowl takes place in Phoenix, Ariz., matching up the best of the Big 12 against an at-large bid. Although undefeated and tied with the in-state rival Sooners for first in the Big 12, #6 Oklahoma State would likely get the draw to play here.
Big East leader, #13 West Virginia meanwhile, comes into the desert to face the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State has been solid offensively all season so far while West Virginia has done well, but hasn't been electric. The Mountaineers would have to rely on their defense to slow down OSU if they want to have any chance of taking home the trophy.
Unfortunately for WVU, Brandon Weeden leads the offense to the end zone multiple times while the Cowboy defense made some crucial stops. Oklahoma State wins big, 49-24.
BCS National Championship: LSU vs Oklahoma
5 of 5This year, the rotating national championship is in New Orleans as well. The LSU Tigers only have to drive from Baton Rogue, a few miles north, while the Sooners have to fly in from Norman. Since the arrival of Stoops, Oklahoma has had trouble against SEC teams in bowl games, going 1-3.
Bob Stoops gears up a powerful offense and a stout defense in what looks like a great Title game. Les Miles prepares one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the nation and looks to his top rated defense for support.
Landry Jones and Jarrett Lee are both great QB's who've have performed exceptionally well so far this season, but the two defenses provide walls against the offenses in this game. One of the least exciting games of the BCS Bowls, LSU's defense forces one more turnover than the Sooners and pulls out a close game dominated by field goals, 13-10.
