BCS Rankings 2011: Top 5 Teams That Deserve To Be in the Top 25

George SeligaOct 17, 2011

There have been a lot of changes in the Top 25 throughout this college football season.

The current trend sees teams getting on a roll, followed by huge losses that which kick them back out of the Top 25. Teams are constantly going in and out and it makes it tough judge which teams are for real and which are busts.

The underdogs are consistently winning, and some big time programs are struggling this year. Here are five teams that are knocking on the door to break into the Top 25 this weekend.

No. 5: Baylor

1 of 5

The Baylor Bears have been playing great football this year.

They have a underdog Heisman candidate in Robert Griffin, who has led this efficient offense.

The big test for Baylor will be when they play Oklahoma State. If they can somehow pull the upset, which they are capable of doing, I think Baylor will cement their spot in the Top 25.

No. 4: Louisiana-Lafayette

2 of 5

The Ragin' Cajuns are being overlooked.

Coming out of the Sun Belt conference, there is a reason many people look past them. They are sitting at 6-1 and should win their next three games. The Ragin' Cajuns have a solid run defense and rank 33rd in all of FBS football teams.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ragin' Cajuns sneak their way into the Top 25 within the next couple of weeks.

No. 3: Cincinnati

3 of 5

Cincinnati is sitting at a 5-1 record with that one loss being to a competitive Tennessee Volunteer team.

Other than that, they have had solid wins, especially over a 3-3 North Carolina State team. The Bearcats have a big game coming up against South Florida, and if they can pull out the win, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Top 25.

No. 2: North Carolina

4 of 5

The North Carolina Tar heels are a very competitive team this year.

They have a 5-2 record and are coming off of a tough loss against Miami. They need to start winning their conference games.

If they do, they have a great shot at getting themselves in the Top 25 and to a solid bowl game.

No. 1: Arizona State

5 of 5

Arizona State has been playing very well this season.

They are currently sitting at 5-2 with both of those losses coming from Top 25 schools (Illinois and Oregon).

They have the 25th best passing offense and are 3-1 in their conference. If Arizona State can keep this good play going, I can see this team going to a good bowl game and finish in the Top 25.
